The yard in OP is the old Gulfcraft yard. Lots of really good big aluminum crew boats built there over the past decades.

Hopefully this brings some good to the towns of Franklin and Baldwin. I have heard though, that this place is poaching all of Metal Sharks fabricators...
The former Franklin Gulf Craft yard appeared to be struggling with very little activity in recent years before the Saronic Technologies acquisition in April 2025. Meanwhile Metal Shark/Gravois was booming and sold out to Magnet Defense in Jan. 2026. Proximity wise, you could throw a rock from the MS yard and hit the ST yard as they're only separated by the Hwy 90 bridge.
Both shipbuilding companies are direct competitors relying on Gov't contracts to build military and unmanned autonomous vessels. Just 2 years ago, Metal Shark secured a $300M Navy contract to build 75 patrol boats over 7 years.
Amazing story how Jimmy Gravois started out building custom aluminum fishing boats in the early 80's and now he's worth many millions. Always said if I ever win the PB and have stupid money I will buy a MS Fearless fishing boat

Yea well, when your state has the highest MMJ prices in the nation. ?
Louisiana is 8th highest and still cheaper than what I paid while it was illegal and I was in college.

District of Columbia: Ranks as the most expensive in the country, averaging close to $550–$590+ per ounce due to strict regulations and limited licensed growers.

Despite being somewhat costly, Louisiana remains far cheaper than top-tier expensive markets like Illinois or the District of Columbia, where regulatory caps and intense tax burdens push averages much higher.

The members at Avoca have enough money, giving up their private getaway would take an enormous sum.
