That was one hell of a beatdown

But keeping our troops in Saudi Arabia is one of the main reasons Osama planned 9/11

First Gulf War was how it should be, Kuwait was an ally, we went in, removed the Iraqis, and honored our agreement. Then we left.

A far cry from W Bush’s nation building boondoggles

Used Iraqis to kill Iranians, and Iraqis died in the process. Not sure I see a problem.

Because that killing causes some people to despise the United States to such a degree they're willing to kill us here. And our involvement in that conflict was at the behest of the two countries who own us and our politicians: Saudi Arabia and Israel.

A friend's band was playing in a bar in Dallas' European Crossroads that first night. Sat there watching CNN on a 32" Sony they had hanging over the bar. Pretty surreal sitting there discussing what we saw all coked up, and drinking like fish.

Senior year in HS.

Dual meet vs. St Paul's, weight class before me finished their match. St Paul's Principal walked calmly to the center of the mat with the PA mic and announced the war in Kuwait had begun.

Crowd gasped a bit although it wasn't a real surprise. Ref paused briefly, waved us out, shook hands, ready...wrestle.

No computers in everyone's pocket so we waited until we got back home that night to watch the news and see what was happening.

So you tell me what happens if we do nothing and Iraq takes over Kuwait??????? Since YOU are sooooooo smart.

That’s their problem. We have our own oil here, and the only real problem they could have caused is the instability of the oil market. We don’t need them or their oil. And we do not need to send our finest to die for them.

I remember watching it as a 10 year old being able to tell it was a big deal based on my dad and uncle's reactions.

The Dallas Morning news had a color American flag the size of a full page printed in it. I cut it out and taped it to my bedroom window that faced the street, and an elementary school.

Retiring this May. Can still remember reporting to Fort Benning for 11B OSUT in the summer of 1981. Cannot believe it is almost over. Has been a great career.

Holy hell. You’ve been in since 81??? I enlisted May of 88. Even counting my Guard years I was still out by summer of 2000.
