Shark populations are threatened but you are seeing more of them closer in because they are hungry. Overall apex predator numbers are not increasing anywhere on earth
There are more sharks now than ever. Sometimes you can’t get a snapper to the boat without a shark biting it in half.

They are simply everywhere. I
Yet somehow they are on the “endangered” list
Makes no sense
There are tons of them

Does navarre still have that long pier? I went there long time ago and you could see lots of sharks out there.

I’ve been bringing my kids out to sandbar since they were less than a year old. Won’t change anything for us.
If you were within a couple of miles of where this happened it wouldn’t change anything for you? Even with young kids?

It does still have the pier. I bet you're right about sharks with all the fishing that happens there.

What if he is counting by weight ?

First, the video he posted proves you incorrect. Second, if you want to be literal, the average shark of these species weighs 700lbs. You’d only need 6 of them for the combined weight to equal greater than 2 tons, hence, “tons.”

I surf out here on the Atlantic coast and i have seen plenty of sharks( usually black tip)in the water while surfing but this definitely caught my attention. I surf but usually where people aren't fishing and i do surf knowing sharks are everywhere just the risk I am willing to take.

There are technically sharks in Destin, Florida. However, the sharks in the area aren’t usually the ferocious killing machines we picture when we think of a shark in the movies.
Different Types of Sharks in the Gulf of Mexico
The dreaded great white shark and other large sharks, such as nurse sharks and tiger sharks, do make an appearance in the Emerald Coast from time to time, but it is extremely rare to see those shark species in Emerald Coast waters.
More likely, you will spot one of the following less threatening sharks found in the Gulf of Mexico:

Obviously you don’t know much about Central Oregon, or any urban center outside of major metropolis.
Bend Oregon and the Deschutes is Gods country.
Portland is what you tried to make fun of but failed miserably.
Educate yourself.

The shining example of the average Surfer in Destin.
Years ago, Two surfers paddled out to catch a wave. Sharks so thick they went over the backs of sharks on the way out. Coming to shore, one surfer was bitten ........Paramedics were called. As his buddy is on the beach getting care, the other surfer goes out and he gets attacked .....Now two ambulances on the beach getting these two ready for transport to the hospital.
Moral of the story? Two surfers don't the combined IQ to stay out of the water .....

So…. “Shark” spotting right in front of us. Caused everyone in the water to get out. Walked down the beach to where it was spotted and someone saw something swimming at the far sand bar. I got a feeling we’ll get a lot of these shark “spotting” today.

I done a lot of low level beach flying, sometimes it seems like the entire food chain of the ocean is waiting just beyond the area where the bottom begins to deepen, barely past where all of the people are

There are a lot more bait fish and minnows near the shore today. It’s also the calmest day of the week so far. I’m sure that has something to do with it.
