I know that is a big consideration because its only 2-3 years max that you have them all in day care. I"m about to be in that boat in the fall but my oldest will start kindergarten a year from August so it will be less than 1 year that they are all in Day care

That's the whole issue. It's worth it for both of us to keep working. If we made less it's definitely a no brainer to stay home.

Honestly at that point you should really consider if you or your wife should stay home. Daycare cost alone probably run around $2000-$2500 a month and if you consider the additional saving from one parent staying home it probably equals around between 30-40k a year. That's the take home from a 50-60k salary. So if you or your wife make less than 60k you might be better off staying home with the kids.

Agreed. He really should run the numbers. My son's daycare is $1500 per month, and that's just for one kid (granted, everything is expensive as hell up here, but I can't imagine daycare is cheap anywhere).

This is why I'm thankful my wifes parents are retired. I couldn't imagine the extra bill and I only have 1 kid.

Waitaminute here...

Are you telling me that the reward for sticking around to father your children as well as your spouse and yourself working fulltime (as you are both capable to do) to support your family is that you are barely treading water financially?

Just wait until they're all three in high school and knocked up or knocking someone else up.

Man, you could contract a school graduated caregiver from The Philippines for about 400 dollars per week as a nanny, possibly even less, if room and board are provided.

You need to either find a private sitter(this is cheaper) or at the least have them at a daycare that teaches them and actually excels at getting their kids into good schools. If you are going to pay for it, you might as well have it lead to better opportunities.
