3 Farmerville students charged with sex crimes

Three Farmerville High School students were charged with sex crimes after two were reportedly videoed having sex — fully nude — on campus. The third student is accused of taping the incident and sharing the footage.

Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates said said the incident was reported to the sheriff’s office Sept. 24. A 17-year-old boy and two 15-year-old girls were arrested the next day.

Austin W. Townsend, 17, of 1101 Pine Drive, Farmerville, was booked into the parish detention center on misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile, obscenity and resisting an officer. He has been released on bonds totaling $7,500.

Townsend reportedly skipped class to meet a 15-year-old girl. They stripped naked and were having sexual intercourse under the stairwell in Wing D of FHS when the third student caught them and started videoing the act with her cellphone, the sheriff said.

The school resource officer, who investigated the incident, reported that the video was posted on social media “for everyone to see.”

Gates said Townsend, while being questioned, became irate and refused to cooperate when deputies tried to handcuff him.

The young woman participating in the consensual sex was charged with obscenity and given a juvenile court date of Dec. 4.

Both girls were released to their parents.
