I got my second dose of shingles vax yesterday. Usually, I have zero side effects from any shot or med.
First shot was just a sore arm for 4-5 days.

I was fine for 22 hours, just a sore arm, like the first one. Then, I felt like I had chugged a pot of coffee, I could feel my blood pressure rising in my head. Felt like my face was glowing and my heart was beating in my head.

My office was 72 degrees and I had to dig out a winter coat. I had the chills for hours. I had to go out in the 90+ degree sun and sit for 30 minutes wearing the coat.

Now, my hair on my head (subtle brag) hurts. Yep, my follicles are sore.

Good thing is it's only supposed to last 3 days or so.

I guess it's still better than the shingles.

Don’t scare me away from this vaccine. I was lucky enough to get a mild case of shingles when I got it but don’t want to gamble with anything worse. I legit flipped my lid when it was advancing up my arm and neck. I was terrified it would get to my face and eyes.

Pretty sure the Smallpox vax works for that, so I'm good already. Thanks Uncle Sam.

You have no idea how much better

One friend had the pain for about 6 months (sores were healed in just a few weeks)

Another friend had it a decade ago and still gets random pain signals

Yeah, I watched my dad not be able to wear anything but an XL hockey jersey for weeks. And then one of the biggest guys I know got them bad. Brought him to his knees.

My brother is having his first outbreak.

He looked like a monster with shingles on one side of his face and one eye swollen shut.

Doctor said it is not in his eye and he seems to be mending.

I got the 2 dose shingles shot a few years ago. The first one made my arm sore for about 3 weeks. I had no problems at all with the second shot.

For all the “pureblood” naysayers, let me tell you what this disease can be really bad, I’ve seen women with it on their genitalia and anus as well as face, eyes and in the ears. These people wanted to die! If you’ve ever had chickenpox, you have this virus in you for the rest of your life, You don’t want shingles.

Pureblood has nothing to do with this vax as it’s been tested and used long enough for any unintended issues to be documented.

Gotcha. I’ll never get the Covid vax but don’t want to be confused with a general anti-vaxxer.

Had my first shingles vax on Sunday at 1100, was fine until about 1800 on Monday, then some serious fatigue hit all of a sudden, went to bed at 2000 and was out until 0600 Tuesday.

Your reaction to the 2nd shot is normal. I was told by multiple people to get the 2nd one on a Friday so you had the weekend to recover. That was my experience as well.

Re pureblood, it’s protein based, so most of the folks on here have already been vaccinated with a similar technology sometime in the last 30 years.
