this is like winning $100 on a scratch off ticket and buying a case of beer
not even close.
a case of beer costs 20% of that $100, and has no monetary value after you buy it and use it.
He spent 12% of his winnings on real estate, something that holds monetary value.

I would make safe investments, set up my family, and live a modest lifestyle
With almost $700M in the bank?

this would definitely be my play after paying off debt and buying a nice, but modest, house.
If $600m fell out of the sky and landed at your feet, tomorrow, you would live in a modest house? GTFO.

Assuming he put 20% down on a 15 year mortgage, and maxes out his Roth IRA every year, he should be fine.

Cracks me up.
First of all because everyone would know, your life would completely change. You're not just going to the lake and opening up a six pack and drinking Bud Ice all day.
The amount of hangers on and hands out you would get would be absurd. Your life gets turned upside down.
Even with multiple management firms handling it, it still requires a lot of work to keep up with whats going on with your investments.
You're getting large houses in gated communities and getting the F out of dodge for awhile to avoid the local scrutiny.

When I say modest im not talking about a fricking double wide or anything. Just not anything insane that would be way above what I need.

Ok. If I got 628 million after taxes I will convince them to let me have the 8 million to farm with and live off the rest of my life. The rest of the investment money I will probably pass on.
In this scenario I would probably also have like 8 kids

I would live in a 500,000 dollar house in a small town. It would probably be the nicest house in town but it would be nothing like what Taylor swift or whoever owns.

I’ll give 1,000 to everybody I know and the people I don’t like I will tell to frick off after giving them the money

At this rate, he’s burning thru the free cash even faster than Ed O.

As a theoretical exercise, I think of the easiest way to blow all that money with nothing to show for it.
Depending on how digital rights are counted, blowing it on pay to win games seems to be up there.

Just make ridiculous sports bets. I actually know a guy that made a frick ton of money off bitcoin and other shite and now he places like 50,000 worth of bets every day. He is not very good either.

My Dad always said he’d buy an hour on a local TV station and start reading from a list: “The following people can kiss my rich arse…”
