The person of interest who turned himself in for questioning was seen running from the scene on video. Apparently 2 of his friends he was with were shot and he wasn't. I believe he was a person of interest so that nopd could find out more details such as if the shooters and victims interacted before the shooting and if so, where so they can try to ID them from video in those places.
Which would explain why he was listed as a person of interest in lieu of a suspect yesterday.

100 channel IP DVR network would be $15,086 at cost.
You don't know what you are talking about.
quote:
Interconnecting the HDDs and IP network, bill at four people, 40 hours each. Pay averages about $25 an hour for camera install work. So $4 grand to set up the DVR.

So you need 20 24v transformers. Cost is about $75 for a commercial one so $1500 costs, figure $4500 billed.
WTF

So realistically, Bourbon street could have an impressive network of IP connected cameras backed up by a 100 TB server for $60-65,000
Not realistic at all brah
The real problem with getting cameras up in the city is that it has already failed miserably in the past b/c of corruption. There are tons of good expensive camera equipment hanging all over the city that isn't being used. The city has gone with the stratagey of using area business and residents cameras to aid in there investigation. They even have a program set up to allow people to give NOPD instant access to their systems.
You should see the system that Razzoo's is about to have installed. They are required by their insurance to have 1 year and a day of archived video. It's going to be more than what you just quoted for the entire FQ.

Why wouldn't he have been talking to police after the shooting. If 2 of my friends were shot the police would hear everything I know immediately.

State Police is going to take over the French Quarter and Marigny.

60-65k is pretty far off too. I just had one installed at our facility and it costs that...we are probably 1/10 the size of the area you'd need to cover.

None of these folks go to the police after a shooting. They were most likely planning their retaliation shooting until his picture and name were plastered everywhere.
I'm not saying he's innocent of the shootings. I woke up to conflicting reports/ posts and simply said him not being the shooter could explain a few things.

It's way off

Everytime I read your screen name I have the urge to fish.

My guess is he didn't come forward to the police at first because of his warrants, then probably got pressured from family or felt guilty about it and went on in to the police station to tell them what he saw.
"Following the interview, Odom was arrested and booked on unrelated warrants in Jefferson Parish--outstanding traffic attachments and a shoplifting warrant."

This time tomorrow I will be living up to my screen name

Well, NOLA lovers, your worst nightmare has come true.
I stated a few pages back that this would become front page news if the shooter ended up being white. Hell, they don't have to be "white", just have a light complexion and have a white-sounding last name (see white Hispanic Zimmerman).
Now, you have white suspects with a black girl that has passed away.
This will garner national attention now. Only hope you have is that tomorrow is the beginning of a three day weekend. Maybe some idiot in another city will top it.

The only time I will ever step foot in that city again will be if LSU plays there

Although this was a terrible terrible event, and Nola does have too much crime, that's quite an overreaction. Go ahead and let events like this shelter you.
