You should call the Angela show. ID yourself as Paige, from New Orleans.

I never said they weren't. My point was that NOLA wasn't always some hugely black majority city.
In any case, with how elections are going now it wouldn't surprise me if the #s of black folk that came back after Katrina were exaggerated. I mean, shite, a white mayor won in the primaries and didn't even have to go to a general election.

New Orleans on its worst day is still preferable to whatever podunk Plano suburb your doublewide calls home

Ryno's life + some retarded Baptist church:

My wife, my job, my kids. Every day is exactly the same. I go golfing on Sundays. I hate golf.
Don't blackball me, Mitch. Please.

WWL Radio and Canal St have a lot in common.

Every street in New Orleans = Bourbon at 3am
This is indisputable.

Why are you so afraid of those that would scream racism that you don't want nice things? Black people love designer labels. They'd love to see Canal filled with Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Coach, etc.
I agree with that.
whenever a store rents out something nicer goes in it's place.
Once St. Palace gets renovated and developed that end will be much nicer. But the ball is rolling and it changes.
I think Foot Locker, Nouveau, and the hat store are a big deal to many "hood people" and those places sell products that aren't cheap.
The t-shirt shops are the trashiest shops on canal and it's too late to get rid of them.
If you think about it in the smack dab of the "hood" block of Canal you have a nice high end jewelry store. The other end of Canal has a Tiffany's, I think in time we will see more high end boutiques.
But I still don't think Canal is "ghetto" because it has a block or so of shops that cater to the "hip hop" set.

Has the NOPD actually identified who the shooter is yet?

Yeah the talk about Canal being ghetto is overblown but there are some ghetto areas. That corner by rampart is seedy and I always see tourists who look kind of bewildered there.

No but they did say that 6 out of the 10 are not from LA. One of them is from Australia. Why we gotta piss of the Australians? They're awesome.

No one one saying get rid of the black people.
quote:
get rid of the loitering, hanging out on the corners, in front of Popeye's, McDonald's and corner convenience stores, put these people to work.
So don't hang out in the part of town people go to hang out in?
quote:
get rid of the t-shirt, souvenir shops, replace with restaurants, nice upscale bars, condos etc, bring in businesses that create decent paying jobs and attract middle to upper class tourist and locals.
This is already happening.
ALL OVER THE CITY
You live in Uptown right? What about the developments that came up north of St Charles around Felicity? It brought with it more restaurants and bars.
You are seeing this happen already. I can get people want it to happen instantly. But that's a pipe dream.
It's happening is the point.
And those Condos on the corner of Basin and Canal are filled up . I had a job in there in May. Had a nice Lambo and a Maserati in the valet line. Three full lots of resident cars, and as far as I could tell looked filled up.
I don't get why a pot shot was taken at the idea that people actually want to live on Canal now.
Isn't one of you saying to build condos on Canal, while the other is making remarks that they are probably empty, without knowing of course.
The Saenger fills up (though I actually preferred the layout of the Mahalia Jackson Theater), The Joy is restored and hosting shows. A few plans have been drawn up for the State Palace.
Stores are closing and being replaced by nicer shops.
A problem is the tourist shops are very profitable and it's hard to block them.
