Not true. Often imitated never duplicated. Unless you are talking about the violence. Then ya I don't blame you.
I'll probably have my car broken into for saying this but I've been parking on a street in uptown NOLA for around two years on a daily basis and haven't been broken into once. When I lived in Houston I parked in a gated garage every night and my car got broken into about once every 9 months or so. Your southern friends sure do like to steal.

At least our friends from the southern border work. That's right, they would be preferred over your rejects who are "citizens"
Agreed

name ONE "ghetto" club in the quarter....
Even Rampart is getting nice things now.
Just so many on the outside don't see the changes.

I take it you haven't been to the city in a while?

You are in la la land if you don't think a lot more work needs to be done.

Police say two men just started shooting at each other and bystanders were the ones who got hit.
It was all caught on camera.

Regarding how we can fix New Orleans, like The Guilty Remnant said: "Don't Waste Your Breath."

Make Canal like Times square, only two blocks of Bourbon really has any titty bars. They aren't what brings in the hoodlums.
It isn't even like Bourbon brings out these assholes every day. When you hear about a shooting, its ALWAYS in the same spots.
Mid-city or something off broad, the square in the east around bullard/haynes, and the usual places. When was the last time you heard about a shooting on bourbon? Definitely not every week.

What do the hoodlums do in the FQ anyway? I see packs of them walking up and down the street yet I never see them inside any of the places I frequent. If the answer is they just buy drinks and walk around then maybe the solution is to eliminate the Big arse Beer and street front drink places. Not saying you can't walk around with a drink obviously but maybe you should have to go into a legit bar to get one. Just spitballing here. Thoughts?

Police presence wise, yes.
Infrastructure? No, it's BEING done in that area.
You the one who posted the idea of putting failing businesses (bookshops) in the quarter to replace strip clubs.
When people come for conventions, you think they want to read or get a dance at Rick's?
I get it was your two post take on a joke about how the urban youths are afraid of books, but no ma'am I am not in lala land and this incident doesn't scare me.
Any gunman can go to any city and do the exact same thing. But can they get away with it?
I think we need more surveillance, that is a huge flaw, but nothing you do will stop this kind of thing from being POSSIBLE.
You can go onto the street and even if there were 2,000 police officers on Bourbon, you could still pull out a gun and shoot 10 people.
So it's really hard to stop something like this from being possible. We can only focus on deterring it and making it easier to apprehend after the fact.

No doubt. I wish I felt comfortable walking down canal at night. I avoid that first 100 block of bourbon at all cause.

So Canal street isn't undertaking major changes right now?
They aren't closing down the ghetto shops left and right? They haven't opened new theaters for the arts? They haven't expanded luxury living and hotels?
No sir, I take it you don't know what you are talking about.

Know what we need too? More lighting.

You can never mes with me about parking in the ghetto, if you can't walk by Krystal Burger at night.

sell drugs, rob drunk people, prey on the weak, steal cars, hustle tourist, pimp out prostitutes....

They don't go/stay inside. It's weird, but I won't add to this observation.

This is the third Bourbon shooting in three years. Not a lot based on other areas but enough to alert the tourists.
