I love hearing all these comments bout N.O.being such a " shite hole". Good. Stay away & let me & my family & my friends enjoy a less crowded Quarter like we've been doing for over 30 yrs now with no major incident whatsoever. I guess there are good reasons why the NFL keeps coming back for its premier game, the NBA All Star Game, the various NCAA men's & women's basketball tourney games, the crowds for New Years, Jazz Fest, the French Quarter Fest. For such a " shite hole" it sure does draw well from a lot of powerful national organizations.Year after year after year. Repeat: do stay away, far away, those who hate it so much.

I'm one of NO's biggest defenders on here but we as a city can, and have to, do better. What the hell is to stop a repeat of last night during a New Orleans-hosted Super Bowl weekend, or NBA All Star game, when the national media is descending upon town? I don't want to see 9 tourists, or anyone for that matter, mowed down on the biggest stage in the country.

It's changing. You just don't know as you are looking in from news reports and second hand or really fourth hand accounts.

But we discussed that 15 pages ago.

Jake. What happened was 2 random thugs that probably from parallel neighborhoods that have been shooting at each other for a year. Obviously they are shitty shots, but unfortunately they happened to run into each other on the 800 block of bourbon.

These guys will be put away. Tourism won't change. Something similar will happen again.

But...... Nola is a different city it was a decade ago and a hell of a lot different than 2 decades ago. Something is happening in the city for the good just be blessed it isn't 1994 anymore

30 years ago the warehouse district was like Central City.

Hard to believe how far NOLA has come. God bless honkey gentrification.

Central City will be the best.
Once Freret takes off and Hollygrove improves. With Xavier student rentals eating away at Pigeon town, and business creeping North of St. Charles all the time, Central City is surrounded and will soon be a totally different and convenient area to live.
Times are a changing. Once the murder capital of the city gentrifies the city will be over the hill on permanent change.

Shh don't let facts screw with Nawlins. The guy takes his name after the city and then shits on it every chance he gets.
Generally a troll poster who is easy to ignore.

While it may have been run down and filled with winos (that's what they used to call them), it was no where near as bad as Central City is today.

Maybe Central City should apply to host the next World's Fair.

What are you so angry about? Are you denying that 9 people were just shot on our city's most recognizable tourist attraction? And that we have a crime problem far worse than most major cities?

Tourism is New Orleans's life blood. If we host a Super Bowl/All Star Game, etc again, and 9 people are shot in the midst of it, that will strongly factor against us receiving a future event of that nature. New York or Los Angeles could handle that hit; we couldn't. Now take a valium and calm down.
