21 y/o Mourad Laachraoui is the brother of one of the suicide bombers at the Belgium Airport bombing and is set to compete for Belgium in Taekwondo at the OLYMPICS this summer in Rio!!

He won Gold at the European Taekwondo Championships and will be going to South America this August

His brother, Najim, was one of the 2 suicide bombers who blew himself up at the Brussels airport on March 22 that killed 32 people..

He distanced himself from his brother saying he had no contact with him since he left for Syria in 2013..

Mourad said he felt "scared and saddened" by the attacks and doesn't want to be compared to his brother.

He is one of the 185 strong belgium athletes heading to Rio de Janeiro where he'll compete under the 58 kilo category.

He won his division in the U.S Open back in February and Luxor Open in Egypt in March and has 2 bronzes from the Canadian Open and Fujairah Open.

Just last Friday he won Gold in the under 54kg in Switzerland and now he's dubbed "Europe's king of the lightweights"

At a news conference he was asked about his brother and he said he was a "nice, intelligent boy" and had given no signs of being radicalised before he left for Syria in 2013 where he broke all contact with his family.

He also worries he'll be seen as a terrorist himself just because he was a relative of an ISIS fighter..

He said at his last remarks "You don't choose your family"..

No problem with hin representing his country since he seems to hate his brother.

I know that it's easy to lump all Muslims together (and, coming from an agnostic, they are an inferior religion), but he shouldn't pay for the sins of his brother.

Do you have any siblings? How much control do you have over them? Do they tell you about everything that they do?

Muslim families are quite close. Not saying for sure he knew but it would be no shocker.

Either way western media will spin this story into Pro-immigration globalist propaganda during the Olympics.

Not all Muslims are radical terrorists.
I have family that flies under the radar and I don't condone their actions when I learn about their behavior. But I never know what they are doing from day to day.....I certainly don't control their actions.

I'm actually pulling for this kid (well, a silver behind the U.S.). It could raise awareness to the differences within the religion and how radicalism is dividing the world and destroying their image.

Friends > family

I never understood why people are so devoted to shitty family members simply Bc they're related. Family is overrated.

I GUARANTEE this guy knew exactly what his brother was doing. Moslems only goal is to destroy western civilization or forcefully convert all non-Moslems whichever comes first. This guy has no business being in the Olympics. The only place he belongs in is a black site under interrogations.

You're applying your logic to the scenario. These people live with family members, under the same roof forever.
