I've been watching the runs from the Teslas in plaid mode over the last couple of weeks and they are insane. Mid to low 9s over 150. Most drag strips you need a cage AND a chute to not get kicked out for that ET and trap.

The record so far is 9.08 @ 154, to put that in perspective the stock Demons run ~ 9.8s and high 130s trap. The Hennessy Demon HPE1000 managed a 9.14 @ 152.

9.08 run

Here is an 1/8th run against a big tire Cuda with a 440, the Cuda red lit but the Tesla ran him down. That Tesla was picked up earlier that day and driven straight to the strip after charging. Admittedly that is a slow big tire car but it is just embarrassing. The video has about 20 runs from that evening.

The idea you can pick up new family sedan grocery-getter and run mid-9s @ 150 having never staged a car in your life is unreal. Add to that the fact they can hot lap all night and you have a giant killer.

They are fricking FAST. If none of what I wrote means anything to you it also means they are a helluva lot faster than anything you have ever driven.

Stock tires? Crazy either way.

I surprised people haven’t crashed them more with that kind of power.

Electric motors don’t play around, there are a lot of valid criticisms about Teslas, performance of electric motors is not one of them.

They are fast. But they just look awful upclose.

Decent paint, wipers (I know, but the factory ones look shitty), and some tsw wheels would go a long way toward making me want one.

How can they keep the tires planted so well on those? Is it just the nature of direct drive?

There has been some crashing of them, pretty easy to find people doing stupid things in them and wrecking them. Some deaths, battery fires, and some amazing didn’t die from that accidents too.

Yes this is sarcasm

The second video is stock tires, straight from being picked up. The 9.08 hasn't been confirmed to be stock tires or whether anything was jettisoned to lighten it.

You have two things, one they weigh a lot and two ICE engines have to be revved high at launch where a EV just starts with full torque from zero RPM. This prevents the huge jolt that breaks ICE engined cars tire's loose. This is why you see the orange Cudu 60 foots the hell outta the Telsa (plus he red lit) but the Tesla just drives around him like the Cuda is dragging an anchor.

It's a $130k car. It's not priced like a dang Accord. C'mon man.

Love it. I’ll be in one of those in about a year. And unless something better comes along, I will continue to buy nothing but Teslas. We have 3 (3, Y, X) and each one fricks. I’m sort of an a-hole consumer and I couldn’t be happier with their cars.

I just can’t do electric or at least Tesla. I ordered a 2022 f-250 Saturday for myself and I’m currently shopping a low 12 or high 11’s 1/4 mile suv for my wife.

Yeah it’s hard to relate what it’s like to launch an electric until you ride in one. People not use to them freak out when you tell them there isn’t a need to hold the brake when stopped.

Drag times will be having a Tesla plaid vs Rimac Nevera. Not looking good for Tesla as the Nevera is a $2.5 million hypercar, electric too, and has nailed 8.6 ETs.

Rimac Nevera 1941 hp

But that hypercar pricetag though.
