2020 Subaru Outback Limited or Touring - how low will car dealers sell these for?

How do you find out how much off MSRP they'd be willing to go? I'm interested in the 2020 Subaru Outback in either the Limited or Touring trims. Don't really need any additional options although I'd be interested in a sunroof on the Limited and a trailer hitch on both.

How do I find out what their price floor will be? Just find the invoice and rebates?

If you play the lesbian card, $1K discount.

You should overpay so the dog pound gets more money.

I mean, seriously, has anyone noticed Subaru doesn't talk about their cars, just that if you buy one, they'll give the ASPCA money?

I didn't notice that. I'm looking at getting one for my wife instead of a Highlander or Pilot. They're very safe, don't look like minivans, and have a really good AWD system.

I don't think their stance on animals, or popularity amongst lesbians and people from the PNW, is germane to the topic.

Subaru dealerships don't wiggle too much on their new car prices - they're typically priced to sell - maybe $500 give or take. You can look at true car and see where they are priced at and will typically see they are below average.

Is this a #humblebrag about the fact that you are a woman who has sex with other women?

Not true. The dealerships in big cities may not budge but ones in the suburbs are more likely to, as they did with me.

I bought mine at the Baton Rouge dealerships - had several through them. They don't wiggle much but I've always compared to TrueCar and never felt they were over charging.

You are likely correct, though. There aren't many dealerships in Louisiana that are solely Subaru.

Google Automatch Consulting and talk to Tom McParland- he writes for an automotive website, Jalopnik, and buys cars for people.

I just used him- it is a total game changer.

He saved me $8000 on a truck in December.

He’ll let you know if he can do you better than the $499 he charges to do it.

We have a 2018 forestor. My wife test drove a bunch of vehicles in that same size category and that’s what she wanted. We replaced a 2017 RDX that was totaled.

We have the Touring I think. It has everything that you can get in it, plus the big engine (which you can’t get anymore). The folks in Baton Rouge gave me as good a deal as there was any where around. I emailed dealerships from Houston/Dallas area all the way into Mobile. It’s a Fabre dealership and although the waiting area isn’t as nice as across airline, those guys treat you right with their service. I’ll give them that....

That all being said, don’t expect too much off the sticker. By chance, I ended up knowing someone with some connections who confirmed prior to my purchase that they won’t come off more than what we got. I stated the previous information b/c we have received great service and as good of a price as you can get around here in BR.

I'd shoot for 12% off of MSRP, and settle if you can get 8% off MSRP.

That’ll be the case for most dealerships. If there isn’t competition, they will not budge on price. I had abkut 4 to choose from so I got a price well below the dealership in the city offered.
