860,000 people in Baton Rouge metro now.

About 3 times as large as it was when they first built I-10 through the city (and haven’t widened it since).

It's a little misleading because the BR metro added several parishes in the early 00s.

2.3% of Bossier's increase came from Shreveport. The rest of Shreveport's loss moved to Stonewall.

Crazy that in the 60s New Orleans had over 600,000 people.

In 1920, New Orleans had a population of 387,219. 100 years later it is/was 383,997.

The population of New Orleans was way down in 2010 after Katrina 5 years earlier. It had nowhere to go but up.

Correct..the 2000 census showed 484,688 persons. There was a 29% decrease from 2000 to 2010..In actuality the decrease came after Katrina.

In 2020 New Orleans still had 20.8% (100,671) fewer people than 2000 (2005).

New Orleans lost 140,839 persons due to Katrina but has only regained 40,168 of that lost population since then.

The nut jobs in power in Shreveport have fueled the
growth in bossier and desoto for quite some time now, not to mention east Texas. Bossier has pretty much grown for 20 years now off the incompetence.

Not true. Bossier is better than Shreveport now.

Interesting. So the biggest gain percentage wise was Lake Charles and its metropolitan area.

Heck, Lake Charles grew a lot in ten years for a city of its size. Nearly 13,000 population increase.

And probably lost that many or more in the last year since Laura.

People look at me like I'm from Mars when I tell them (accurately) that New Orleans has been in a slow steady decline since the 1850s and a quick steady decline since the 1960s.
They have no clue how significant and successful a city it once was. They are convinced that a tourism based, third world city with a a ridiculous real estate bubble based on fickle rich pussies buying temporary properties to appease their self righteousness is the city being "better than ever."
Place has been turning to shite for decades.

Added a few rural parishes. The majority of the metro population is in EBR, Ascension and Livingston.
