The US News ranking is based off of things like incoming LSAT scores and GPAs. I think the Above the Law rankings are more accurate, they're based off of employment numbers and alumni satisfaction.

LSAT is weighted at 12.5%
GPAs are weighted at 10%
Job Placement post graduation at 20%
Peer Assessment weighted at 25%
Assessment by judges and lawyers at 15%

Harvard has 1,771 enrolled, total students. At $60,638/yr..that's $107.4 million a fricking year.

Iowa doesn't need the out of staters. And they are good enough that the Chicagoans who cant get into Chicago want in.

US News isn't even entirely incoming score based. UA jumped a lot of schools that were harder to get into during their meteoric rise over the last 5-7 years.
I agree about Above the Law, which looks to things like reputation in the legal community, clerkships, etc. in a far more accurate way than USNWR.

That's fine and all. Is there any other industry/business that openly charges double on items or services to people from out of state?
Imagine going to a gas station in a different state, you get charged double the going rate just because you're from out of state.

Schools are paid for with state tax dollars, tuition is a supplement to that. Out of state has to make up the different because they or their parent do not pay Iowa taxes

Didn't LSU drop a ton of spots last year as well?
I assume low oil prices is hurting them from the job placement aspect. You would think that held true for Tulane and loyola as well, but those schools typically ship a lot of the class back out of state.
