That’s great and all but 75% isn’t a high % or anything and Seattle is also like 10% black. Unless an area is around 90% white it’s not gonna be near the top of any safest city list.

I believe this was posted a couple days ago.
"Financial safety" was a parameter so the whole list is suspect and not reflecting what a normal person thinks "safety" means.

No shite. Seattle has almost double the population. Crime rate is what's important unless you think NYC is more dangerous than NOLA.

I don't give a damn where you lived. Prove me wrong. Seattle has 4100 violent crimes per year...NOLA at 3700. These are facts. Seattle is obviously a larger city but violent crime is very much alive and well in Seattle.

The list is bullshite because crime statistics outside of homicides vary greatly in accuracy depending on how the public reports them and the police responds to them. One statistic that is hard to skew is homicides.. and Laredo does have a low homicide rate.
Obviously you can't go by this list when it says some cities like NOLA are comparable to Seattle. I've lived in both and there's really no comparison.
I've heard that Laredo, El Paso , and Fresno CA are all surprisingly safe considering how much poverty and such exists. Property crime on the other hand may be a completely different story.

This is one of the more ridiculous positions I've seen anyone try to argue here recently. Seattle has almost double the population of New Orleans in the actual city, more than triple if you go by metro area. Downtown Seattle is relatively safe other than property crime - there are no gangs, etc. New Orleans is far from safe, has some of the worst gangs in the country, etc.

Everyone knows a lot of Nola crime is unreported. And everyone knows Seattle is safer than Nola. I can’t believe you’re even arguing this.

To add to that and what another poster pointed out, it's hard to compare crime rates because of differences in reporting but you can compare murder rates. In 2016, Seattle, with a population of 700,000, had 23 murders. NOLA, with a population under 400,000, had 175.
That is a massive difference.

Its huge! Scottsdale has 250,000 people and while we did have 4 murders last year we also have years where we have 1 murder. Typically the murders here are domestic violence issues, I assume a lot of Seattles fall into that category, and those are a lot different than the murders in New Orleans.

Yeah, anecdotal, but just from watching the news, at least half of them are domestic in nature. Drive-bys, gang murders, and random violence are relatively rare.
