Alabama winning the national championship to start the year. Beating LSU at home to end it.
Seriously, awful year for the state, especially with flooding. NW, NE, Central, SW and SE Louisiana. All had extensive flooding at some point in the year.

I don't think it's necessarily that 2016 is the worst ever
The claim should be that 2016 was ridiculous. For example, Trump winning will please most on this board. But few can deny that an election cycle involving Hillary being investigated by the FBI while Trump trolls the country contributes to the absurdity.
I'm pleased enough with the outcome (at least in the one on one matchup), but that doesn't change the fact that the election cycle was an unbelievable shitshow

Those two should have never been the candidates. Both uniquely unqualified for the job. Worst election in American history, and I'm including 1860 since at least Lincoln was a good leader. Trump will at best be a goof leader.

I agree with that. Maybe I should change the title. There were some tragic events, sure, but every year has those. There was definitely an abundance of ridiculous events.

This is the most violent year on record I can think of in the US (save 2001) with all the damn shootings and the Orlando massacre. It's without question the worst year of my lifetime.

Maybe not in human history, but living, it has to be up there. Like it's no 1941, but it still was just awful. Only year I can think of in my lifetime that can beat it is 2001.

Make no mistake, a lot of bad shite happened: More Euro terror attacks, Orlando attack, lots of famous people dead, BR flooding, Gatlinburg fires, etc.
But some crazy arguably not-so-bad shite happened too: Cubs, Leicester City won the Premier League, Army breaks the streak, shocker election results (Brexit, US).
