I don't know why you rednecks are all obsessed with meat. Studies have shown that a vegan, soy-based diet is the optimal nutrition for the modern man.
We are an agricultural species and have evolved as such. Meat is unhealthy for us, unhealthy for the environment, and should be removed from our diets....and if the government has to mandate it so be it.

Saw a small, trimmed brisket at Winn Dixie last week, had a price north of 100.00 on it. I wondered how many times they would have to freeze and thaw it, before some idiot buys it.

Let me help OP get past the peopke that think theyre the only ones that know about different grades of meat and are being obtuse.
All grades of ribeye are way up. A choice ribeye is up 100%. Prime is up 50-100. Wagyu same. Is what ive personally noticed. Eta. Ive seen the lowest of select quality going for 11.99.

I checked the College Drive Albertsons weekly ad for the current week.
Bone in NY Strip $4.99lb

93% lean ground beef $3.97lb.
Let's not fire the muskets just yet.

You think vegan is cheaper than beef? Come on, man/non-binary.

Paid $24/lb. for a prime ribeye.

It's not about being cheaper, it's about being sustainable and socially conscious about the rampant food inequity among minority populations.
People of color starve while we white people eat based on our inherent white privilege.

Humans have been living on a plant-based diet for 10k years now. That's evolution. We are not meat eaters....we are vegans by biology.

At this rate it’s probably cheaper to get a group together, buy a whole cow and have it slaughtered and butchered
Done this in the past but bought a calf and raised it, then paid to have it slaughtered. Got about 490 pounds of meat out of it and overall it was around $1500 to buy, feed, and butcher. That came out to about $4 pound for the meat. We had burger, sausage, steaks, roast, etc….. this was in 2012 so it might be best $2000 total cost now but that’s still $5 a pound.
Processing plant will do whatever cuts you want but 350-400 pounds of red meat is a lot of meat
