What is your understanding?
A lot of the DEVGRU issues go back directly to the culture Dirty Dick Marcinko developed at its inception. From the beginning, they acted as if the rules didn't apply to them. The fact they got results kept them out of the fire for most of their existence.

Why? Shouldn't we be upset that a soldier was killed?

Every Seal Ive been around or worked with has been a gigantic douchebag. Army ODA guys are way cooler and more humble.
I've only known or met a couple of SEALS. Good guys but they let you know they were what they were. I'm sure they would have shot someone's dog.

Hoping this is not true. Have a sinking feeling in my gut that it is.
RIP Staff Sergeant Melgar.

How many different stories are going to come out?

I've met plenty, very very very few fall into the douchebag category. Many of those get weeded out in the 6 month probationary phase after BUDs. Some people change battle depression, anxiety and the stress at home and at work that comes with that life. The saying the only easy day was yesterday - extends after BUDs it does get harder and never gets easy.
At the end of the day, Thank god those fellas are on our side, doing the jobs 99.999% of people can't or wouldn't do.
That was the primary reason 6 was re-designated as NavSpecWarDevGru back in the late 80s. Marcinko's issues were not the only issues. Even the stress of the unpredictable training regimens take a heck of a toll on these guys. much less being in a war for 15 straight years.
If everyone of em you worked with was a douche bag.... I'll call bullshite on that.

They are not all douchebags. But they are not as easy to be around as MARSOC and ODA’s.
