They were northbound. There is a very very slight curve to the right as you go downhill towards the bayou. Had to be hauling arse to not navigate this turn but had they done so they would not have made the left turn once you cross the bayou.

I'm willing to bet if you could find out who the "serial downvoters" are, they'd stop that, especially in threads like this that announce a true tragic event.

This. And if you were coming from this direction (toward BR), then you can see the tracks where they left the road, over bushes, and hit the water. Even allowing for the curve, it's hard to understand how they went off the road in such a fashion. It's almost as if they made a 45 degree turn to the right.

Incredibly sad.

Any new updates?? So many rumors going around that I won’t repeat. For sure we’re coming from Blue Bayou direction and I’m assuming ran off the right side over corrected and lost control. Such a tragedy prayers and tears were at the school today. God bless those parents and the pain the mist feel.

You can see by the obvious skidmarks that they were heading towards Blue Bayou..crossed into the oncoming lane and ran off the road on the left shoulder, overcorrected and spun around backwards, leaving the road sideways across the gravel road.. Barely grazed a light pole, knocking the top off.. Left the ground and hit a tree about 3 feet up the trunk and must have flipped over landing upside down in the water. Those two 16 year olds had to have been going at least 80mph...that was a scary ride at the end.

If you saw it happen, 17 feet deep is tough to free dive and do any work to get them out.

My guess: Car drifted over center line, driver snatched the wheel and lost control. Whatever happened, it's tragic.

Can you let us know the exact location?
I'd like to look at the street view and show this tomy own kids about driving safely.
I feel very badly for the families.

Please do tell. If they are rumors, as long as you say that they could be rumors, no one will care.

Only reason I’m sharing now is by now sure everyone in the area has heard.
*THESE ARE RUMORS*
Supposedly they had been at a pool party and had been drinking. We’re sneaking to one of their boyfriends before having to be home, so explains speed. Speed of 80+ mph is suspected, from law enforcement source. One or both died before entering water more than likely.

*AGAIN THESE ARE RUMORS*

Some info form police source second hand and we know how that goes also but adds up.

Makes perfect sense. Again, talk to your teenagers about drinking and driving. You can never say it enough times.
