I dunno no the type of rifle but close r range with birdshot can be deadly. Man shot his cousin in real close range and dude died almost instantly. I was a first responder to that call years ago

Likely a misfire on GingerKitty’s part by saying rifle, HOWEVER, You can have a rifled shotgun barrel, which allows both to be true. (Unlikely).
