They tend to be more cult-y than anything. The contractor, Matt Morris, that was arrested a billion times for the 2016 flood went to "The Church" in BR. It's how he got so many of his victims.

i am pretty sure I was sitting next to him and his wife at Bistro Italia about 1.5 months ago. He basically was on the phone the whole entire time with one of his kids. It sounded like he was begging them to come see him and the mom and show support. Very awkward

That would be kind of hard since (last I heard) he was still in jail. He only has 1 daughter who is ~8 years old.

i pulled up his pic and showed it to my SO and she agreed it was him.
THe conversation on the phone was def. asking someone to come see him and the mom...
maybe not though.. could be his Doppleganger

I haven't heard anything in quite a few months but last I did his wife was selling her Infiniti Q SUV. I thought they had revoked his bond but I could be wrong. I know someone (most likely from that church) is paying for a high dollar attorney from Nola so maybe that same person paid for his bail, if he had one.

Here’s the thing...
HAD those posts, esp the rev’s wife, said THIS:
‘i am saddened by the news, blah blah. The Tedd I USED TO KNOW would never have done such a thing. Clearly something went terribly wrong and I pray for his family, who are good people. I can’t imagine a family having to live with such a horrific act that caused five children to lose their father. I pray for Tedd’s soul, I pray for his family, but especially for his victims ‘
But no...not one mention of the victim and his family. Only glorious remembrances of what a gentle, loving person ole Tedd was. It wasn’t until people started chiming in re; the VICTIM that she said basically...’oh, him, too of course I’m praying for him’ then promptly made her page private.
Disgusting. Maybe people would have more empathy for Tedd’s Family if there had been even a smidgen for the VICTIM of this paragon of virtue.

OR...
‘Clearly I DIDN’T know Tedd like I thought I did. I feel bad we were FOOLED into thinking he was a decent guy’ instead of PROCLAIMING him to be ‘so loving’. Last time I checked the definition of ‘loving’ does not include driving 5 hours with the sole intent to slaughter someone.
It’s one thing to feel bad for his family. His family wasn’t mentioned once in these glowing remembrances.

He was a good Christian man who loved his kids, although he wasn't allowed to see them, he loved making duck face selfies at the gym, REALLY loved sticking a pistol barrel up his arse ... and he had a strong taste for cold bloded murder. He will be missed. Amen.

Is "The Church" the former Christian Life on Perkins? Aren't there several "The Church" places?

This is the one I am referring. I do think there is a network of like 7-8 places called "The Church" i.e The Church of St Amant, Church of Livingston, etc
Posted on 6/14/18 at 10:17 am to PiscesTiger
“The church of St Amant” and the “The Church (old Christian life)” and “the Church of Addis” are in the same network.
I believe they broke away from Healing Place.

There is a strain in evangelism Christian theology, you see it with blacks particularly, and in these pitiful prosperity theology congregations, that applies a morally infantile “ God be the judge “ standard , that is just a weak attempt to withhold judgment on something that everyone should judge without hesitation. If we can’t judge a murderer, I give up.
The truth is that our commitment to ( or not ) ethical living SHOULD be how we judge each other. Moral clarity is a virtue, moral relativism is not . If a murderer is celebrated in death, it is just an affirmation of moral confusion. It’s the kind of muddy, confused thinking that gives us guys like this in the first place.

Funny you chose "I'd" instead of "I'll"
That’s the first thing that came to mind when I read that bs post. It’s very “Christian” of her to consider doing something for the victim’s family. Instead, she’ll just offer prayers for the victim’s family and memorialize the murderer with loving praise.

The "judgement" meme is so funny to me. Because it's completely one-sided. It ignores that when we judge someone as a good person or doing something good, it's the opposite side of the same coin. Yet those same people celebrate positive judgements. Graduate HS = throw a party and give the graduate positive feedback and gifts. This is good for society.
"Only God can judge me" is actually a very socialist/communist point of view.

It the triumph of Moral Relativism over the much more difficult pursuit of living ethically . That it expresses itself like this in Christianity is just proof of how primitive these people are .
Edit-I'm not saying Christianity is primitive. Re-reading that, it sounded differently than what I was going for.

considering the general public has a headline, a suspect label, and two dead men with friends and family who loved them, seems like we’re asking for a lot of objectivity from grieving people. I realize that nuance isn’t the specialty of amateur crime investigators stalking strangers together via message boards (not to mention getting a kick out of sexualizing a variety of women whose children are now fatherless and relying heavily on “word about town” third hand to draw some big conclusions), but maybe it’s hard to flip a mental switch from “friend” to “cold blooded murderer” in a matter of days when no investigative conclusions have been released. in the absence of an actual evidence based narrative to help make sense of actions you don’t understand, maybe it’s ok to say “I miss my friend and I’m sad for his family” right after you hear the news. but, nuance. it’s all awful and I hope justice is done to whatever extent is possible. continue enjoying your anonymous outrage, safely removed from any actual investment in the lives of the people involved.
