As soon as you sit down take out a notepad and pen. Take notes - casually. Write down the names of the people interviewing you. Capture the key points of each question and make sure you cover them in your answer. You'll come across as thorough and detail-oriented.

Eye contact - make it and hold it with each person as you answer the questions. Work in their names if you can ("As I said in the reply to Scott's question . . .").

Excellent advice - make a personal connection early on. These indidividuals realize that you have to be a part of their team, show them you know how to connect to/relate with others.

When they ask you " where do you see yourself in 10 years"

The intent of this question is to see how well you understand the mission/vision of the company and the supporting infrastructure (What are the next two level positions above yours? Where are they located? What business certifications do you have to have for those positions?). They want to know that your intent is to be a valued member of the organization, not a glorified intern simply using them for work experience.

A lot of great advice in here.

I feel better about what to do with those letters of rec. Thanks

Getting business cards is a great reminder.

Awesome stuff right here. I brought a padfolio to take notes in.

This is excellent. I was thinking about how to answer that question today. These jobs would definitely lead to certifications. I never even thought about mentioning them. Thanks

I'll definitely be watching that TED talk tonight. I read something about a superman pose about a week ago and was wondering about it.

Engineering positions with medical device companies

Design QC or operations?

It really makes a difference
IF design naturally you want to show your portfolio

IF QC then I would demonstrate not only knowledge of company but how I would perform the first 30 days

IF operations- then you wind up in a Q and A

Most applicants are not prepared for interviews as they do not understand the different types of interviews

Advantage goes to the employer

The goal is to take control of the interview process without appearing overbearing or arrogant but rather confident in your skill set.

Hiring managers are looking for something that sets you apart from others.

Do NOT underestimate the character part of your skill set. IF you have self initiate or a strong work ethic- share that- just don't share something you cannot back up

Definitely hand them out at the beginning of the interview.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to get to that. I really see no reason why they just wouldn't ask for it either.
