Sad. Criminals that flee should be liable for any damages and injuries that occur during the chase.

Impossible to hold people who have never eaten a meal that taxpayers didn't provide accountable. Kill 'em.

Both were cheerleaders. My uncle’s GF is a cheerleading coach at Brusly and just informed us.

Cops get all excited and get to live out their dreams if there is a high speed chase or a shootout and oftentimes think they can do whatever they want.

What did I say that wasn’t factual? The officer wrecked into the other vehicle and killed them.

You have no details of the wreck or how it happened yet you came to the conclusion that the cop was at fault.

My heart just dropped. I teach there. I hope that turns out to be wrong but I fear you probably have good info.

Best of luck to you and the Brusly community having to deal with this tragedy. Even if it’s not students, two people lost their lives today, and a third is fighting for their life.

Multiple families will forever have this tragedy taint their holiday season. What a terrible way to end 2022.

This is horrible news. That is a pretty tight knit little community.
Prayers to the families of all involved.

I said the officer was speeding and recked into another vehicle and killed them. Again, where am I wrong?

quote:

source tells WAFB it appears an officer from another police agency was attempting to catch up to the pursuit when that officer crashed into another vehicle, causing the deadly wreck

OFFICER CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING the deadly wreck

You're saying there's fault and criminal behavior by the cop then trying to hide behind the ol "technically, I said.." routine like you always do.

You're saying the cop should be charged when you have zero details of how the wreck occurred.

Doesn't matter, though. It's not like you'll ever admit to not being omnipotent and infallible

bullshite. It’s awful that it happened, but the alternative is just letting the criminal go.

I mean the charge is “Unauthorized use of a Moveable”… probably would have been smart to call off the chase… no one does jail time on that charge

You weren’t there during the pursuit. You don’t know the details and are going by what some news article is reporting.

Where did I say criminal behavior?

When you are speeding and wreck into someone and kill them, what would you call that? Would you maybe say at fault? I said the cops should be held liable, and the municipality of Addis absolutely will be

Now getting them to actually pay out, good luck

Bro there's no way it's possible that the driver could've not seen the cop's car and unknowingly crossed it's path. It's literally impossible.

So you can’t show where I said anything about criminal behavior or criminal liability. Got it

Criminal behavior is what I call it… cops got some fault in this too… again the original reason for the chase was Unauthorized use of a Movable… a super misdemeanor basically

https://www.creators.com/read/thomas-sowell/09/07/car-chases

Dr. Thomas Sowell:
quote:

When there is a police helicopter overhead, a shot straight down would have little chance of hitting some innocent bystander. Maybe the speeder is just someone out joy-riding but that does not make a reckless driver any less dangerous. Moreover, this would not have to happen more than a few times before leading the police on a high-speed chase would lose a lot of its attractions — and some of those hundreds of innocent lives lost every year as a result of high-speed chases could be saved.

Maybe if the courts would put some heavy jail time on people who go speeding away from the police, that might stop some of them. But they have to be stopped, one way or the other.
