Poster Calle me out for having “daddy issues” and makes other personal remarks to me because I say the officer causesd the wreck
Turns out officer caused the wreck, of course because even the press release say he caused the wreck
I call poster a shithead for attacking me for having been correct
What’s the issue? If it was the other way around he would he here having a field day

Bullseye
I don’t think you you have daddy issues or anything but you’re now firmly in that tier of posters that just has to argue everything

He was the one that started the completely unnecessary argument with me

At the time, no one knew the extent of the situation. You ended up being correct. At the time, you weren't right or wrong in the context of the thread in determining fault
The situation actually ended being worse than what everyone thought

Let’s say an an off duty police officer see someone rob a store and the thief takes off running through a busy area. Other cops are going after him but one cop opens fire to stop him. In doing so he hits two innocent bystanders. Would you not think the cop should go to jail for his negligence? It’s not much different than what took place yesterday.

All I said was the officer caused the wreck and should be liable for causing the wreck
I said that because
1. The article itself said the officer caused the wreck
2. The article itself said he simply joining the chase and not an actual initial responding officer
3. I had personal info regarding the situation. I didn’t know the details besides who the deceased was and “the cop fricked up”
I didn’t go off on some tangent about the officer being a criminal or anything else like was implied to me.

You responded to page 1. So you still don’t think the officer has blame? You might want to read past page 1

I am not on the side of the officer baw. He fricked up bad and will lose his job over this mistake. I just don’t think he should be locked up for attempting to do his job.

The off duty officer is guilty of several charges. First, why was the high speed chase necessary when they knew who the perp was? Why not wait and pick him up when he isn't in the vehicle? I used to see cops turn their lights on and run a red light, only to turn into a fast food joint a couple of blocks up the road where they were going to do lunch. I see emergency response throw their lights on the dash board and speed through traffic to respond to any and every call. Sometimes their being their is not even necessary. That cop was wrong on every count.

What you think it your feelings are irrelevant. He deprived these two girls of their lives and most likely is in violation of TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242 under color of law.

The whole point of a message board is to share your feelings on different topics
I never commented as to whether or not he would be prosecuted as I am not a lawyer/detective nor do I pretend to be

Policing is the perfect job for guys leaving the military. There are a lot of really well paid cops. They’re not all broke, I promise.

You still don’t get it do you???… it’s about prioritization … the crime committed doesn’t call for a multi parish high speed chase … it seems some of you just can’t understand that… and if the facts come out that this idiot wasn’t even on duty he should be charged like a regular person
I would hope the police pursued a home invasion suspect if I was the victim. You’re not too far from armed robbery and aggravated battery/murder at that point. I don’t think pursing the guy was the wrong move at all.

Police were already in pursuit doing their job and in closer proximity to the suspect when this officer got into the mix. But even "doing your job" does not excuse gross incompetence and reckless disregard for the safety of others
This. Well said. This is entirely on Addis PD and nobody else.

Addis PD will be civilly responsible but unless he did something egregious there’s no reason for him to be charged.
Addis PD has a long, decorated history of being over zealous.

The pursuit isn't what killed the girls.
quote:Ok.
You can shite on pursuits all you want
quote:You mean other than endanger the lives of hundreds of people?
BRPD did nothing wrong and arrested the guy without any further incident.
quote:Yeah I do. Do you think that can't happen without pushing him into a high speed pursuit?
Also, he was a home invasion suspect... so you probably want him off the streets.
quote:You know, if doing one thing has a high chance of causing unwanted related side effects, maybe we shouldn't do that thing.
The issue is a dumbass Addis cop doing shite he shouldn't be doing and hauling arse trying to latch on the tail end of another agency's pursuit that was apparently already out of his jurisdiction.
While related, they're two completely separate incidents.
