This whole thread reminds me of the book "Devil in the White City" re: the 1893 Chicago World's fair. It had a decent number of pictures, and the structures built were even more fantastic.

Some additional info on the event: The Japanese brought Water Hycianth plants with them. Samples were given to visitors. It is said the plants were blooming at the time. People put them back in bayous near their homes to see the purple flowers. The invasive plant multiplied to create the mess we have now.

Cool link, although it is sad to see the shape the pipes are in these days. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to do it. It's heartbreaking for anyone who is nostalgic or an organist. Survivor instruments or locations unite the generations.

Same here. I have a picture of me crying my eyes out because I was scared of the robot that was buzzing around.

I graduated high school that May. We all got the season passports and went almost every night, at least for me from late June until the end.

Most of the bars and places might let you in under 18, I was too young looking and couldn't get into Jed's or Sheila's, but since the German Biergarden served food, I could get in there. We had a blast.

I don't remember much, other than the terrifying cable car, the tram, there was a Sea World-like water show with Hawaiians, and some huge Navy ship was on the river.
