We stay on the north end, aka Riptide City. I've never seen any beach where the tides are so visible and so pronounced.

Playa Hermosa just down the road has the best surf

I bet the smell of that place is both indescribable and unforgettable.

Strays also came into the restaurants and went to the bar and got food. Like, one here and there. Not many at the same time. Citizens treat animals right there. Our citizens could take a lesson vs the abuse and abandonment in the USA. I was on the wrong side to go visit when in CR. I did donate monthly for about a year

That's amazing to hear. CR? Yeah, in the USA people can't even treat people right. Nevermind dogs, pets. Americans are spoiled, regarding everything and (everyone) as "disposable".

You probably get used to it. (At least they are sleeping, stacked in your bed, like Taki from 'Taki's Shelter.)

Wild. Do you go on group walk excursions at parks, beach etc? Or just cut them loose in your back yard? Are they regimented and line up at your commands by name?

Who's the "boss" of your dogs?

Cut them loose in the yard and let
Them go. I have an electronic fence that keeps them on my property.

Lord no. I don’t expect much of them aside from just being dogs and listening when I call. They understand basic commands and when I’m angry. That’s good enough for
Me.

I’m the boss of all of them but the oldest dog (12 YO) lab mix is the alpha of the bunch. He’s old, deaf, and arthritic, but he doesn’t take any shite off of anyone and keeps the peace on the rare occasion there is a fight.

It’s an expensive undertaking, but the older I get the more enjoyment I get out of being home and just hanging out with all of them. So that makes the time and money well worth it.

I wonder if there are different packs each with their own alpha or just one alpha for all of them

furbaby culture is OOC

euthanize 1798 of them and use the windfall of resources to do something actually useful.

They look well fed so that's good. I wonder how they deal with fleas and ticks and medical.

It was all peace & love pooches. (I don't imagine a "stray" pitbull would last very long in Costa Rican street or anywhere for that matter.)

The US is the only country dumb enough to breed them.

Any more than about three outside dogs and they'll develop a pecking order pretty quickly. They'll hunt just like wolves or coyotes depending on their size.

Our german shepherd would stalk through the tall grass and periodically leap upward to position herself for deer... And bark/yip to the rottweillers, aussies, and heelers to guide them.

All it takes is one grumpy old female and that's a pack of very dangerous dogs.

I have 5. When they go outside or I leave home, they are separated by 3 and 2. 5 running loose together and something happens isn’t good. I can manage 3/2.
