Guys can have friends even if they are assholes, frickups, lazy, poor, whatever. Just be cool. Drink beer, watch sports, play fantasy football, make friends. It's fricking simple.
Girls on the other hand are counts to each other by nature and there has to be a perfect balance in the universe for women to make friends.

I don’t “get” people who go through life without friends.
My wife and I have a pretty big social circle and I’m not super close to all of them, but I have 6 friends who I talk to almost daily.

This is what happens when you grow up on the internet. When your friends are only known to you through gamer tags, it’s tough to call them and have a serious conversation.
Get your boys off video games. Make him play team sports. Let him go be a boy, get dirty, break stuff, do dumb things.

Ive got probably 10 friends I hang out with 1-2 times a week atleast and talk to daily.

I have a handful of lifelong friends but only 1 lives within 200 miles of me and he's 45 minutes away and they have 5 kids. I probably hang out with my friends once every year or two.

I’m sick and tired of this trope. Introverted doesn’t mean antisocial. It simply means not needing to, or wanting to be in the center of everything.
