It’s not a lot of fun to go to a place to try to socialize and one of us is always following the kid around. At that age they don’t play independently, and they run all over the place so one of us is stuck trying to socialize while the other one is babysitting. I would rather stay at home
hose of you who don’t go out socializing..do you frequent bars or public drinking establishments?

I've always associated the need for some noise and the feeling of not being alone kind of an extrovert trait
I'm an introvert and a homebody and I always have a movie or music playing as background noise...even when I sleep.
But I've never associated it with not wanting to be alone. It's more like the opposite. You want to be alone, so that you can actually hear whatever you're watching or listening to.

If I see you more than once or twice a year, that's getting kinda gay.
Are most of you needy little 13 year old girls?

Unless your friends and situation are unique, you generally don't maintain that many close relationships as you get older. You can certainly stay in touch for sure but it's not like most 45 yr olds are hanging out with their friends very often. I'd say it's more the exception than the norm to maintain close knit friend groups into your middle ages.
I think it is more normal than homebody types/parents think, but they don't realize it because it isn't part of their own personal life experiences.
Drifting apart and getting caught up in your own life is very normal, but I think those folks assume everyone is doing the same when there's still a very solid social crowd out there. I mosey around town a lot, and there is certainly no shortage of people (both married and not) who do the same on a regular basis.
I can think of numerous "who's who" married Baton Rouge women that go on group Cabo trips and margarita nights and misc. gala events on a very regular basis.

It is very strange to me that this website of all places downvoted this as much as they did.
I just chuckled to myself when I saw the ratio.
I guess having friends isn’t “cool”

No kidding, between work, my wife, and three kids, I don't have much time for anything else. I haven't done much without them in years. I would say I fall in that 15% for sure.

My best friend of 25 years does not go to restaurants and bars. I assume this to be the case with a lot of married people with young kids. Even her and her husband and child don't really go out for sit down meals. All takeout or cooked meals at home. Little to zero alcohol.
We are still close because we text every day, but I'm sure this is "the norm" for a lot of married young parents. That said, I think more people than some folks realize still balance social lives.

I see I touched a nerve with this character in particular. Yeah, when you see a group of guys hanging out this is exactly what’s going on, keep telling yourself that so that you don’t feel like a loser for having no friends

I can understand wanting to be alone for times to recharge. But that all the times is a depressing way to live

Why would I care? I don't tell anyone anything I am private about. Even best friends. Even my SO.
I don't really know what your goal is in this thread. What are you trying to argue here?

I have several really good friends that I would call close.
I only had 1 friend I could tell absolutely anything to. I could have shot someone and told him without any concerns of him telling anyone or looking at me any different. He died a little over 5 years ago and I miss my friend immensely.
