Do we know if the officer even had a taser?

If you had a buddy with you, you wouldn't even need a baton. I don't blame the police, I wouldn't want to get stabbed by a 14 year old either but they probably could have held off on the shooting.

Ask yourself this....if the cops had held off on shooting and a kid had been stabbed and killed....would you be ok with the police actions?

There were 3 different police departments on site according to a chief in the interview.

I thought all cops carried a taser?

I'm not taking a chance with my life because some snot nosed kid didn't get the small Pony polo for Christmas and had to wear the big pony and was upset.

No.

Also, a kid running around wielding a knife is probably hard to taze.

With all the other kids around....I understand using lethal force.

You can't take a chance at the knife wielding kid stabbing students.

The problem is not your life at risk.....its all the other kids around him.

I think that reason is why he probably used lethal force.

Hard to tase but easy to shoot

I don't know, call me crazy all you want but that was a little over the top. He was surrounded by people he wasn't trying to stab. I wouldn't want to go toe to toe with a knife wielding 14 year old high level athlete but I would have fricked that kid up right proper.

It's unfortunate either way, especially for the poor cop no matter how justified it was. I do believe it was a justified shooting.

I thought white folks were law abiding and non-violent.

Officer should have tased with all the others around the kid if possible. BUt he may have had to be too close to do that.

It definitely sucks for the cop. I can't imagine having to shoot a 14 year old like that.

Yes a gun is much more accurate and handles distance better.

Looks like he did a pretty damn good job to me. He probably didn't shoot sooner for trying to get a gap behind the crazy.
