these teams are covered by local media like the local team
combination of minor league and HS if towns had only one HS

The Canadian junior hockey system is a totally different animal. Kids live at the homes of sponsor families and ride those buses non stop from city to city. Periodically this has happened with bus accidents . This is by far the worst ever though and as ingrained as hockey as this is in the Canadian psyche , this will be a huge national tragedy.

We should ban buses, not a year goes by where there is some tragedy involving bus loads of kids.
I wonder if the driver was licensed. Maybe make it tougher to get a license.

Pretty good odds at least a couple of upcoming NHL players on that bus. Interestingly, most NHL players have the same two birthday months because of the age cutlines for these junior hockey teams. Actually, a lot of sports are that way now that just about everyone has gone to some sort of "travel" ball. These young athletes, who are lucky enough to have the cutoff age closest to the posted age limit have more of a chance because of their development physically.

Awful news which has jolted all of Canada. 15 dead 3 more in critical condition. My heart bleeds for those players, coaches, families, support staff, etc who have been impacted.
