Does the 13th Gate crew (and presumably the Halloween Consortium) still party super hard?

I always got the vibe that it was its own type of “lifestyle”, which is probably more controversial to the church than this stuff.

I could be wrong (ie now you can’t come at me for slander and hearsay)

Shouldn’t an all powerful god be able to prevent some edgy dorks who lit a few candles from opening a portal to hell?

Free Will. That dork is the one that has to pay in the long run.

Nobody is seriously trying to talk to demons. The minimum wage actor running the seance is probably thinking about what pizza to order later while going through the script. The Haunted Mansion has a seance scene.

Now if people are actually trying to speak and worship the devil, that's a different story.
isnt 13th gate supposed to be or rated the scariest haunted house in the country or something? You doubt they could find devil worshippers to come work for them with that kind of reputation?

I for one don’t doubt they have satan worshippers on staff. They’ll go back to thinking about what pizza they want to order while perusing Reddit/witchestitties when they get back home but I bet this experience exists at 13th gate now cuz someone took it to the owners themselves and said hey you have this reputation, how’s about adding this experience for guests? I’m familiar and have experience with it already and will do it for X amount of $, charge whatever you want.

Haunted houses and horror movies

You people are buffoons! No one is calling for cancellation-- just suggesting that Catholics not attend an event that goes against our core spiritual practices!

They weren’t wrong. Harry Potter presented the idea that interaction with the spiritual can be a good or a neutral, which goes against the Catholic faith. Though I’m sure many got the message wrong, the actual concern wasn’t that Harry Potter was evil but that this fictional series aimed at youth present a false reality where “magic” and “sorcery” in the like could be used for “good.”

Oh boy, this topic is an old but goody.

Yoga=fine

Transcendental Meditation=Not

The biggest problem is that many believers have no actual idea. What their faith actually teaches? And what is acceptable versus spiritual darkness

When I was still Catholic the parish was all up in arms about a local yoga studio that had opened. Same vibes.

a hardcore baptist guy i worked with the same way with yoga. I had seen a lot of bizarre Christian pearl clutching in my time but that was a new one.

I tossed my back out and was doing a peloton yoga class in my office. he came in to lecture me about how yoga spirituality is gate way for the devil

The greatest thinkers in western civilization disagree with you, but our modern society views it as foolishness. Not because we actually know any better, but because our lives are so filled with distractions that we never actually ask the meaningful questions about the world we live in. It doesn't even cross our minds. Social media, sports, reality TV. There is always something there to occupy the mind.

True story: i had a buddy who was a little odd, but was into drinking beer, playing video games, et cetera. He invited a girl that was really weird but kind cute to a party we had, and she asked if she could invite a friend.

Long story short, this freak from thirteenth gate shows up- head tattoo, piercings and all. He starts showing us the weird piercings on his back where he is suspended from the ceiling with hooks!

Fast forward fifteen minutes, and everyone was inside watching football, save four weird girl and piercing guy, who were smoking a cigarette. We hear a car peeling out, so we go outside. Those f****** stole our keg and hauled arse!

So yes--weird, evil freaks do work at Thirteenth Gate!

Saw this post this morning from a friend that shared it so I went to the 13th Gate's website. They do not claim that its a real seance. They explicitly say multiple times that its a theatrical act that includes light and sound affects which is part of the reason for the warning. I understand what the priest is saying here and anyone who really thinks that this is a true seance should avoid it. But to me this is nothing more than an interactive scary "movie".
