A multi-jurisdictional task force spearheaded by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office resulted in 139 arrests over two days in May.
Sixty-one arrests were made on warrants while 78 were based on probable cause. Eighty-six citations were given, and 487 traffic stops were conducted May 10-11.
A poster at the OPSO Rifle Range displayed mugshots of several people arrested during the heightened enforcement period.
Sheriff Jay Russell said many of those apprehended were the worst of the worst. One suspect was picked up on six counts of attempted first-degree murder.
"In the day-to-day operations of the police departments, the sheriff's offices and the state police, we don't run across these people," Russell said, "but when you put 60 or 70 officers across the state in one area ... this is the results you get. You get these kind of people off the street. You get those that have been arrested with drugs and gun charges off the street also."
During the operation, items seized included 135 grams of marijuana, 34 grams of cocaine, 11.5 grams of methamphetamine, 15 Ecstasy tablets, 70 assorted prescription pills and four firearms.
Agencies participating in the task force included OPSO, Monroe Police Department, Richland Parish Sheriff's Office, Metro Narcotics Unit, Louisiana State Probation and Parole, Louisiana National Guard Counter Drug Air Wing, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Jackson Parish Sheriff's Office, West Monroe Police Department, ULM Police Department, Louisiana State Police, 4th Judicial District Attorney Steve Tew, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshal Service and Union Parish Sheriff's Office.

That's not a whole lot per person there.

It would make Hunter S. Thompson feel anxious about his inventory levels.

Damn sounds like those cops had some fun.
BR should do this one day in NBR. But that would be racist.

So like, 5 ounces of pot, a little over an ounce of coke, less than a half ounce of meth... A few pills and a few guns?
They could have gotten twice this in an hour at my house.... Two day task force. Great use of our dollars.

Crazy to think a car like this could be involved in illegal activity

The law of averages says you've gotta be due for one attempt to succeed soon, right?

Nope. Clearing those warrants and busting the shithead wanted for attempted first-degree murder was all worth it.

How is that possible? How does someone like that walk around freely?

No idea this even existed.

Could have been an incident where he shot at a guy and 5 other people were around him so they cut a warrant for 6 counts of attempt murder. He might not have even hit anyone. Probable cause is a very low standard.

You can probably ask him on the street as he is probably out on bail again already.

What you get is a hidden tax on the citizens, then the rest of us taxpayers having to pay for them to be in jail when they weren't bothering or hurting anyone.
And oh yeah, you get us taxpayers paying the salaries of the cops to go out and tax people more and then spend more of our money on prisons.
frick all of them and their dipshit task force

Thanks for the idea for a parody cover.
I'll probably write Jacque Straux de Ouchita, though.
