This whole situation has "WTF" written all over it. First off, someone with Aspergers should not have access to a gun, of any kind, especially a teenager who has bouts of uncontrollable meltdowns. Who TF would call the cops, tell them that their son hates cops, and might have a gun? Were the cops wrong and should they be punished? Sure. But the mother was dumb as hell.
Now, I have had mental health diagnosis (+ PTSD) that was similar, but not exact to this guy. I had spent almost four years in the hospital by my tenth birthday (there were some things that happened that were terrible while I would be hospitalized), and had close to 50 major surgeries by then; things like that will cause mental illness in any child. Any way, I had uncontrollable meltdowns, and even had the police called on me twice. The worst thing that happened to me was being threatened with jail. Of course, I immediately knew who was boss when the cops came, but my parents didn't say I had a weapon either (I probably threatened to harm someone, who knows). That said, I'm not sure why the cops decided to shoot, especially when he was running away. Taser? Sure. There needs to be some punishment for sure on this.
At the end of the day, the adults from all parties f****ed up, and the kid has to pay. Hopefully, he will be taken care of for some time. I hate this for him, and I have close relatives who have Asperger's. Things like this is why I struggle with authority. This is terrible all around.

I haven’t seen much about it Do we have this child’s name all over the professional and college sports leagues? Protesting/marching in Utah?

Cop shots a kid with autism, and they don’t add his name to the people who have been killed by police

Jacob Blake is still alive
Drew Brees has his name on his helmet

I feel like I'm writing this for the millionth time:
instead of DEFUND the police we need to pay them more.
More money for de-escalation training
More money for violence/physical apprehension training
More money for training to deal with the mentally ill and/or specialize some officers for this call
More money for pay
More money for screening applicants
Also, possibly higher standards or requirements for hire (especially no hiring the out of shape high school legend with respect issues from the next town over that got fired for acting a fool).
In exchange, no more no knock warrants and a reduction or elimination in limited liability.
These measures would result in a vastly improved and compensated police force that should be more professional and capable in their actions.
We task and ask a lot of our police force. If we're doing that, we need to set them up to succeed. In return, they owe us their best.

Sad story, but I blame the mom.
She calls 911 and asks for a psychologist (or something similar) because she couldn't get her kid in the car. If she can't get her own kid under control, what do you expect police to do? It would be like me calling 911 because my dog got loose.
They talked about how he has severe autism, then his dad gets on there and says he was his best little buddy and was a great kid. Which is it?

But you asked why he wasn't added to a list of dead people.
My position is that it's largely due to the fact that he isn't dead.

This is exactly why we need to defund the police. C-level highschool grads can't even handle a 13 year old without violence. This is ridiculous. Yet moron here will never see the obvious.

No he won't because he's proud of his double standards.

Now you’re arguing semantics
He was shot by cops
There are a number of people shot by cops that aren’t dead that are being put on shirts, helmets etc

You literally asked why he wasn't on a list with dead people.
Now maybe you made a typo and should have said "why isn't he on a list of people who were shot by police", but that's a different thing entirely.
Don't make a mistake in your post and then try to blame it on others. Own your shite and move on.

You are correct
This is my own mistake
He is not dead and I said killed by police
