Define South Side. Monroe is far bigger than the Garden District, River Oaks, and Treasure Island.

South of I-20, duh. Only place in Monroe that I would consider "dangerous". Get down there around Tanglewood you are apt to get capped. And Bastrop is not that dangerous.

Drive around between 165 and Kansas Lane. Drive down Desiard at night between the bridge and Louisville.

West Monroe being on this list is a joke. One of the best police departments and hardly any crime at all. It's probably the safest in all of north la.

There is also the area in and around Desiard/Louisville where venturing after dark is a recipe for disaster. The fact is Monroe has a higher crime rate than a "city" it's size should. Yes, you can stay around campus, in N. Monroe, in the Garden District and be fine, but that's not the city limits.

Since IP left town 'Strop city has gone to shite. An inordinate amount of crime in that city for it's size.
THis list isn't saying that if you go to these towns you will die. They are just saying that due to crime per population, you are more likely to make a wrong turn and become a victim in these places than others.

I have, for 20+ years. Sketchy as hell but I would drive thru them is need be. I would not get remotely close to Tanglewood at night. It is way more dangerous than the crack heads downtown and the wanna be thugs hanging out at the mall.

Surprised Shreveport isn't on the list either.

Is the Blue Goose and the Purple Peacock still around?

The most dangerous place in Hammond is the Walmart. Just in the last month there has been a armed robbery, 2 shootings and a stabbing.

Bastrop has lots of theft and robbery. Poverty and crack heads abound. There is not a whole lot of violent crime and I don't know of any areas that are really frightening or dangerous. Certainly not enough to be #1 of a list of most dangerous places in LA. That's laughable.

Yes, we call these crimes.

The numbers are based off of crimes per 10k, not murders. Would the names change if you removed arson, burglary, and theft? Yes, but that's not what this list is.

Spent the last year in Monroe, sadly. It's not super dangerous but it's pretty damn poor.

It's pretty dark up there all the time, crime must be outrageous.

it's not a bogus list. even in the blurb you quoted, it tells you what the metric is based on. crime per 10k people. pretty straight forward imo
C'mon now. I've lived in Hammond for most of my life and I've never felt unsafe anywhere in Hammond. I understand what the article is attempting to saying, but the list is straight garbage.

Danger to me means physical danger, not loss of property. The list is stupid.

Eunice gets more and more Opelousas and Church Point trash creeping in each year.

Pretty well documented that Opelousas is little else but a crime-infested shithole. Billy's boudin is pretty much the only redeeming quality these days.

You spelled Shreveport and Bossier wrong.
