Damn. Sounds like she was snorting because they mentioned the bags but no needles or anything. Still crazy for an 11 year old. Glad they saved her

I hope you die cold and alone, after being savagely beaten by some thug you are so sympathetic towards.

I hope the beating leaves you unable to crawl away, but still able to feel pain. I Hope you are able to make voice activated calls on your phone, but everyone you dial ignores or hangs up on you. I hope you scream loud enough to alert passersby, but then they come upon your pathetic form and see what a piece of shite you are, and gag you to silence your screams.

Then I hope the ants come.

Then the rats.

Then the wolves.

The exact same thought came to my mind as I read the OP.

It's an 11 yo girl. I know you're trying to make this a race thing but did the OP even mention the race of the girl? Black white or green, an 11 yo on heroin is a fricking tragedy.

Sure is , but you know damn well the presumptions about race made when certain drugs are at issue.

Seems to be an entirely different tone about drug abuse ( outside of knuckleheads like Sessions)when the demographics effected are different.

Richard Pryor so eloquently pointed this out in his stand up 40 years ago about minority / inner city drug abuse vs Suburban( White).

When your kid is 11 you should know where he or she is at every second of the day. Poor parenting IMO

Even when the 11 year old is at school? Do you realize the things kids are exposed to at school.. That's not taught in the classroom?

I'd bet almost anything she was snorting it.

Gotta be some really bad parenting going on here IMO.

Not necessarily. When's the last time you had an honest conversation with your 11-year-old about mortal dangers of heroin? I'm sure you--like most of us parents--didn't think you had to yet.

I think it's up to parents, educators, and--gasp! Maybe even the government--to have an honest conversation about drugs. "Drugs are bad, mmmmmk" does a disservice to kids because it lumps all drugs together. But drugs are not all created equal. And when they figure out weed is not really the devil, then our blanket "Don't Do Dugs" loses its value and we parents/adults lose credibility.

There is a tremendous difference between weed and heroin. Especially with the ridiculous shite they are cutting it with these days. I wouldn't know about it were it not for being on this website everyday. How is an 11-year-old--or even her parents--supposed to know they are cutting it with shite that kills fricking elephants? I'm all for personal responsibility, but we are talking about 11-year-olds here, dude. 11 year olds. I'm fine with law enforcement going to every school and talking to every kid in America about the dangers of this drug specifically. And maybe not Trump or any politician--maybe Oprah or Ellen or somebody everybody seems to trust and like--doing an ad campaign, privately or publicly funded--and screaming from the rooftops exactly what "heroin" is now and what will almost certainly eventually happen to you if you roll those loaded dice.

The even larger problem is you're seeing mental health service/substance abuse services at the top of the chopping block in states that are hit the hardest and now on the federal level as well. And if you throw them in jail, they're ODing there too because it's easy to smuggle in.

It is sad, especially when you think about what they are cutting and what they continue to spend money on.

For example:

quote:

"Contract 672113 - this is with a California consultant 'to provide assistance to students to learn valuable social skills through organized play on their recess and lunch periods.' Most kids don't have problems with recess or lunch. They don't need a consultant from California to help them," Kennedy said.

The contract, which was worth $94,000, expired in 2009. The Investigators found current contracts that not only raise concern for Kennedy but to the everyday taxpayer.

LINK

There was a $2M contract spent on a consultant group from California that was suppose to teach children how to engage with each other more effectively at recess.

But they have to cut back on mental health services, education, etc. Its sad.

Richard Pryor quote about 1982 or 83. Even before the Crack Cocaine hit the inner cities.

"Y'all used to drive through our neighborhoods( minorities) and shite & go ' oh look at that . Isn't it terrible?'. Then you get home & your 14 year old is f' ed up( high) & you go ," Oh my God! It's an epidemic! Maybe next time you see Black people in trouble- you'll help maybe?.....- Richard Pryor

The only help was the war on drugs & criminalization in the 70's & double down on Draconian drug laws in the 80's( assisted by Black & Democratic politicians as well).

The tone is changing when these drugs reach beyond the inner city.

In case you're not aware, heroin has a long history within the black community. In fact, for a long time it was associated strongly with black music. I made no presumptions about the race of the child, in fact I still don't know what race she is. I'm sorry that your prejudice has led you to be so cynical about others but I can assure you that your post does not reflect my intentions. My father died of an opiate overdose three weeks ago. I legitimately feel for anyone dealing with addiction and drug abuse.

. No doubt

It's crazy you hear about the 'heroin epidemic' the past 5-10 years, but that's only because it's hitting white suburban communities. You couldn't find heroin in BR or Houma or Laffy or north shore to save your life before katina, but shite in the city in the mid 90s I can personally tell you that you could get heroin on every damn block, twice as easy as ANY other drug including weed
