I've met her several times over the last 15 years or so. I used to work with her daughter. She is a wonderful lady.

Sorry but common sense - odds are LESS THAN .02 % for anybody to make it to 100. You are probably not living to 105 let alone running in any race.

She’d beat high school me.

Her claim to fame is not she is better than anyone else, it is that she is so fricking old nobody else bothered to hobble a few meters to establish a record.

I ran a marathon relay a few years ago because I’m too damn fat to run a full one (4 people run 5 miles and the fifth person runs 6.2 miles.). I got passed by this old guy who was probably in his mid to late 70s wearing a shirt that said something to the effect of he had ran over 100 marathons. My pride forced me to try to keep his pace for a half mile or so, and I couldn’t keep up. He slowly dusted me and I felt like a lazy shitbag, but good for him.

"This is just a drop in the bucket," Hawkins, who joined the record books for the Louisiana Senior Olympic Games after she became the oldest American and the first woman in the centenarian age group to run a 100-meter race, told CBS News. With a finishing time of just under 1 minute and 3 seconds, Hawkins described herself as "so happy" for the opportunity, saying she might even do it again.

Were there better looking girls in the Quad in the 1930s?

She needed to set the bar high, make the record unbreakable
