Hard to imagine unity even over something like this in the present day.

My sister called and told me about it. I turned on the radio and listened to them talking about it on talk radio. Our power was out from the April 27 tornadoes. I never did go back and watch any of the video from the news stations.

Could not have happened to a better guy.

Thanks Obama (sincerely this time).

As told by some of the people involved from the White House to the boots on the ground. LINK

We may have killed Bin Laden but he won anyway because 9/11 was a cultural and political flashpoint that seriously damaged and changed this country forever and we're worse off now than we were on September 10th.

It radicalized everyone some way, some how but most importantly, it radicalized the US Government and we've been bearing the brunt of that and will continue to do so until this country collapses.

Most interesting to me are the various meetings that were held to determine how the White House could best exploit the event

Osama's goal for 9/11 was to draw the US to the bear trap of Afghanistan and ruin the US financially

Seems to me like his plan is going pretty well.

The Twitter bots would be somewhat confused, but still would be largely anti American.

He accomplished what he set out to do but he expected the US to fall a la the Soviet Union and it didn't happen. He recognized by the end that he had failed and was advising his children to abandon jihad, get an education and live peacefully LINK

Not saying he was a good guy or should have been let off the hook, obviously.

Another thing this reminds me of: I had stopped watching Letterman long before this, but somehow I saw a clip of him talking about the raid/killing, and he kept saying things like "There was one man who could do this job, and that was Barack Obama", like Hussein had led the mission and fired the killshot.

That's when I realized ol' Dave had gone off the deep end.

For people of a certain age - myself included- it’s hard to imagine any event will hold more mystique in my lifetime.

The Spleen would’ve wanted Bin Laden to have been wounded in the leg and taken into custody, and tried fairly, as opposed to being riddled with hydra-shock rounds and sent to hell.
