Do some of y’all have brains? The heavy majority of people will pay more in taxes now. The only ones that won are the ultra wealthy. This tax change quite literally burdens the middle class and fattens the wealthy aristocrats and good ole boys
"Heh, just don't buy anything ever! Bet you didn't think of that, commie libtard!"

Part of the point the dipshits in here aren't following. It's not that we can't afford it. This is all an extra burden just to attack poor people hidden behind the income tax relief.
"You don't have to have streaming services" you're right but I'm not living in a goddamn cave and reading books to make my evenings and weekends pass by. Streaming services have ended up costing more than traditional cable packages after all of this. Burden is going to hit the middle class harder than anyone.

This particular bill was sponsored by a Dem, so it’s not like it didn’t have bipartisan support.
quote:
The author of the proposal, Rep. Ken Brass, D-Vacherie, said 44 states already tax digital services, making it an easy transition for businesses to collect and remit tax revenue for Louisiana.
Ways and Means member Rep. Rashid Young, D-Homer, called Louisiana’s transition to taxing digital services a response to changes in the marketplace.
Also just because she is a fan of the OT…
quote:
“Streaming services, they’re really luxury items. People may choose not to get cable, those are things we’re not bothered paying taxes on,” said Rep. Mandie Landry (D-New Orleans).

Conservatisms main goal in this country is now making the middle and lower classes suffer not saving money

10%
The state’s share of the sales tax is just 5% isn’t it?
Are the local taxing entity’s part of this new sales tax automatically included, or do they have to enact their %’s themselves?

Such victimhood
And ignorance considering a black democrat sponsored this in the house.

Why would I pay a fee to Cox for taxes on streaming Netflix?

Technically the states have to opt in as Louisiana is a home rule state for sales tax, but every parish outside of just a couple just adopt the same code as the state.
The entire concept of home rule is another can of worms that Louisiana needs to fix

I just love the fact they gave everyone the right to choose
I figured you lefty boys would love that.

Yes, not having internet in the year of our Lord 2025 is realistic

Louisiana’s republicans are fiscally progressive and socially conservative. It’s awful

If you are gainfully employed and contributing to society report back after you file your LA state tax return.

Jeff Landry knows where the system is broke. He knows how to fix it.

10% to the poor person is a higher % than the rich guy avoiding 6% state income tax on his 6, 7 or 10 figure income.

Cox Contour has a streaming capability, similar to how almost all major cable providers now provide an app for streaming purposes without the need for a cable box.

it'll probably be $20 a month in taxes for me. YT TV, Netflix, Max, Apple+, Paramount, Hulu/ESPN, BritBox, Amazon Prime. Starts to add up.
Hate to break it to you but it's not the taxes adding up.

Netflix started charging taxes quite some time ago.
Uncle Sam is always going to get his. Which sucks.
