Very possible the guy flying it was no more than 25-30 years old. Hell I was PICing King Airs that age. Didn’t know what the hell i was doing either.
now just imagine a 23 year old recent LSU grad being the keys to a slightly used F-4, with bullets, bombs, and missiles sometimes onboard

Here is some more info. Very sad. Co-Pilot had celebrated one year wedding anniversary in May. One of the other passengers who died (along with his wife and 2 step kids) is the son of Jo Ellard who I think owns EE Ranches.

Someone on reddit who was at ADS when it happened. Wouldn’t doubt it

My husband takes his pilot lessons there. This is devastating for all involved. Lips are really tight on this one. Almost more info here than there.

NTSB spokesperson did not mention that.
The NTSB is hiring anyone that is not white and male.

Recent Update
quote:
Investigators recovered the cockpit voice recorder, and National Transportation Safety Board Vice Chair Bruce Landsberg on Tuesday told reporters the following about what can be heard on it:
• The tower cleared the plane to take off about one minute before the recording ends.
• "Crew comment consistent with confusion occurred about 12 seconds before the end of the recording."
• "Crew comment regarding a problem with the left engine occurred about eight seconds before the end of the recording."
• Automated alerts about the plane's bank angle can be heard about three seconds before the recording ends.

The NTSB is examining four videos of the takeoff and wreck, including two taken from the end of the runway, one from a parked fire truck, and one from a different hangar, Landsberg said. The plane did not have a data recorder, he said.
I wonder if those will be released after the investigation so that other pilots can learn from this accident.

Video is now out. Just saw it on local DFW broadcast.
Plane was level then rolled to my untrained eyes. Will try to find video.

From my SECOT thread
Devastating loss
quote:
His father gave me my start in the insurance business 16 years ago. He didn't have to take a chance on me, I was 20 years old, didn't know shite, didn't have a degree, but he did and it changed my life.
When his father died of cancer 9 years ago, he took over the company and modernized it. Earlier last week, his family finalized a deal to sell the company for half a billion dollars.
Before he signed the company over on Wednesday, his final act as chairman of the board was to give every employee a $500 goodbye bonus, plus an additional $500 for every year of service, agents, managers, marketing specialists, support staff, underwriters, legal department, everyone. Everyone at the company will be keeping their jobs, btw, part of the deal. We're talking over 300 people, some of whom had been with the company 40+ years.
He and his father were incredible men, their families were incredible people, any success I've had in the business I owe to them.
The world lost a special human being on Sunday.

Would it be SOP to have the nonflying pilot hand on the power control levers during takeoff?
Posted on 7/17/19 at 10:29 am to blueridgeTiger
can anyone confirm that jerry jones is ok?
Posted on 7/17/19 at 10:31 am to Traveler
It really depends on the operator/pilot preference. I personally never take my hands off the throttles during takeoff except to pull the gear up, which takes about 1 second. But I do know guys that prefer to have the copilot back him up on the power levers and help set takeoff and climb power.
Either way, if you’re flying a king air with a copilot the copilot should have his eyes inside the cockpit monitoring engine instruments for the entire takeoff in my opinion.

He tried to take an impossible turn and sadly realized where the name came from.
