I'd bet large we that see closer to twelve terminals than we do to three.
I don't know. 8+ LNG terminals seems like a lot (unless several are small... like less than 1MMSCF/Day.

I could see 8+ large complexes that are a mix of LNG export, GTL for domestic consumption, and other GTL intermediates for domestic distribution, though.

What do you mean soon? It's been happening for quite a while now.

None of the projects have actually started. We've been hearing soon for 7 years.

Long way to go to catch up with Cheniere Energy which has all approvals and plans to be the first to start exporting LNG by the end of next year.

Cameron LNG is going to be pulling a lot of employees from Cheniere.

The permitting alone takes a massive amount of time.

Especially when you throw in ever changing regulations and the whole wetlands issues with where some of these facilities will be.

Then, with this being LA, the right palms have to be greased no doubt.

Mississippi. Of course I was lumping all of south La in with this conversation. Everything I read and in talking with contractors leads me to believe that everything from Baton Rouge west down to south Texas is doing very well these days.
I guess it's just a matter of the def. of "doing very well".

LA doesn't have nearly the number of skilled labor it will take to build these plants. I heard CBI is planning on offering welder a $60+/hr + benefits when the work start bombing.

it's interesting that LA actually has many more welders available than any other state. It's why we use welding for a lot of our construction instead of bolting structural members together like is called for in most other places.

Structural welders aren't going to be the ones pulling in $60+ an hour.

I was speaking more to the fact that LA has a larger number of welders in the state than other states.

I know you were, but I am saying I seriously doubt the welder shortage is in structural welders. A tech school, or even on the job training, can turn out a structural welder pretty quickly.

It's Heliarc pipe welding where the demand for these facilities will fall short.

A large number of welders does not = a large number of the right welders needed.

That is when they bring in a ship full of welders from Venezuela.

Actually, the shortage is with structural and process welders.

Yes, but it still takes quite some time behind a shield before the welder is worth something. A lot of these welders come out of trade school and can pass a welding test but aren't worth anything in the field.

The real concern is getting the bodies into the trade schools.

Does anyone know how far along the Sasol GTL, gas to liquids, plant is? Any idea for when the plant will be operational? Thanks.
