He’s cool, just charges too much for drinks. Love his March Madness pool.

Most truthful statement in this thread, and the BR residents who shite on NOLA know it.. and they know that if NOLA is a shithole, then BR is just as much, if not more of a shithole.
Does anyone deny BR is a shithole?

I’m pulling for her. I hope she backs up her talk but she seems more focused on feel good things rather than getting down to the real problems.

It was murder. The victim wasn't local to the neighborhood. I live a few houses over from where the shooting took place.
This is the general gist of the situation...sorry for it being long.
I heard the shots, called my upstairs neighbor to see if they were ok, then called 911 to report it. I noticed a car drive past my house and stop in the intersection. I walked onto my porch to try and get the plate because I thought it might have been apart of it. Saw this young guy jump out who was on the phone with 911, saying that he and his friend were shot at and that his friend was shot.
My nextdoor neighbor also sees this, walks over to me and we decide to go and see if there is anything we can do. Walk up to the guy on the phone and ask him where his friend is and he said near the park. I am still on with 911 telling them that they need to send and ambulance as well. We head that way and come up on a guy laying on the sidewalk, right near the alley. He was twitching a bit...could see a bullet hole in his back and one or two in his leg.
We tried to see if he was responsive or if there was anything we could do since there was movement and we didn't see a lot of blood. He most likely died right after we walked up to him.
I think we were at the body about 5 mins after the shooting and the cops showed up about 2 mins after.
It most likely isn't random. The shooter shot a full mag, reloaded and went though another. Think the cops said they counted 20 casing, though not sure if they were all the same type of casing. But from the sound it was a series of pops, a break, then another series. It didn't really sound like there was any cross over.
Don't know the full specifics as to why they were shot at. The friend kept mentioning that they would come over to this area all the time cause it was quite and safe (he was in shock and just repeating similar sentences to the cops). Not sure if they were dealing, or just smoking in the car and the shooter came up to them while they were in their car.
Just sucks seeing this kid dead on the sidewalk...and yes I know it was probably dumb to walk out and see if I could help out when I didn't have the full grasp of the situation.

Wow.
Young guy? 16? 26? Do you think they were lived in the immediate area?

Damn, yeah I would say so, but understand how the potential risks of such a situation don't always hit you in the moment.
Thanks for the account, nevertheless.

That old children's hospital has always seemed super sketchy to me
That property is roughly 6 blocks of prime real estate. Assuming low density residential usage, that’s roughly 45 $2m+ homes.
Unfortunately it’ll never happen. Children’s wanted to develop the property into a full scale hospital with heli access. Of course the neighbors balked at that. They’ll sit on the property forever.

Young guy that owned element beverage company. Alvin Kamara used to Post his lemonade a lot on his IG. I’ll try and find a story. In short seemed like a good young guy with his head on straight. 1000% not a gangbanger or any of that typical stuff people like to say. I’d say he was maybe 22 or so. Feels like someone was just a hater which is a problem in our city.
There ya go.

wondering if there was a girl or heartbreak involved. sad to hear dude

100% it most definitely wasn’t random. The city is so small that everyone knows your business or knows someone you know. It’s crazy.

Don't know if it is her doing it or what, but there is a ton of road work going on around the city.

Bump.
Story out today from the victims friend/business partner that was with him at the park. Said they routinely met at Audubon to discuss their business. Met there after the Pels game and were approached by two men they didn’t recognize. One of the men asked if they had a lighter, then pulled a gun and started shooting when the two victims ran.
Seems odd. Friend is framing it as random robbery gone wrong...no way that’s the case.

According to Green, two strangers approached them, asked for a cigarette lighter and then pulled out guns.
In an interview Thursday recounting the events of two nights earlier, Green said he and Espadron thought they were about to be robbed. They tried to run, he said, sprinting away as fast as they could, when gunfire erupted about 11:15 p.m. The shots missed Green but fatally wounded Espadron.
