A lot of millennials are living with their parents so they are able to sock away the cash. This happened way less in the past.
Move out and pay your own way.

5% higher than in 1970 according to business insider, so not really.

So you'd rather people be crippled with credit card debt like Boomers than live with their parents for a year or two and be off to a great financial start? You sound like a retard.

Yet you criticize those same parents who welcome millenials back into the house so their kids can get off to a great financial start?

This happened way more often in the past. You lived with family until you got married.

No, I don't. If I criticize them it's for their stupid decisions like not saving for retirement not letting their kids live with them.

Most boomers have less than $17,000 saved for retirement

It's no secret boomers are awful with money. Always have been.

Wake up fools.

There are lot of people who apparently don't understand what "median" means and the difference between it and "average". If anyone believes the average 65 y.o. has $17,000 in savings they are well out of touch with reality. The "facts" being quoted are also greatly skewed by race, level of education, time in the US, etc. Most financial statistics like that are broken down into quintiles. Being deceptively selective, using quotes like "1 in 6 " gives very misleading samples. The US Census report shows "median" savings of "boomer" age group is $17,000"... by the same token, the group defined as "millennial" has a median savings of $500.... a far cry from the laughable $100,000 quote.

Wake up fools.

If you sample in the same fashion used to get $100,000, and look at white, college educated "boomers", you'll find boomers are anything BUT "awful" with money and have average savings well over $1,000,000.00 dollars.

Wake up fools. This nothing but the typical, skewed, bogus information that is the gold standard of online "fact reporting".

So 53% have less than 15k saved. All while recording record low home ownership.

So they own nothing and have little cash.

it means half of all boomers have less than 17k. Pretty straightforward.

that's a pretty small % of boomers, so I'm not sure what hat has to do with anything, if it's even true

Of course, only 1 in 3 millenials even has a bank account, according to the ABA.

Technically, no. Boomers should have had the foresight to plan for their retirement though, just like every generation after them, assuming that they'll never see a dime of what they paid in.

The "greatest generation" was great in a lot of ways but they produced far too many children, and their actions will hurt generations for the decades to come because of their irresponsible breeding.

My paternal grandparents were a prime example. Grandfather was a POW in Germany during WWII. Grandmother was a factory worker during said time, That's all great.

Ten fricking kids though. One died as an infant and one died as a teenager in an automobile accident, but even then, eight fricking kids.
