Are you and your friend in your 70s?
That's near the old Hi Nabor, and there were whites in that neighborhood well into the '90s

I remember going to parties at the Bellemont Hotel after a school dance.

Good times.

I certainly wouldn't go today. One, because of the area. And two, because it would be frowned upon that a guy in his 40s shows up to a high school dance and party.

And three, because the Bellemont doesn't fricking exist, which can confuse Uber drivers

And three, because it was dozed down years ago.

It used to be a busy place, with tons going on besides just renting a room for the night.

My great aunt lived about a block down from the Hi Nabor on Winbourne until she died in about 1995. Victoria ran on the other side of Airline down past the Salvation Army where Barry Seal was killed

It's at that Victoria Drive trailer park. Not the first murder there, certainly won't be the last.

Had a job there couple weeks back. You want to talk about a third world shithole, that’s one.

The Baton Rouge most know and the one that exists beneath a thin veneer of “civilization” would shock and apall you.

Although it is fascinating.

The problem is there are decent people peppered in with the detritus. The ones that can get out. The old are trapped. The young that are worth a damn are too often corrupted by the cancer that surrounds them and give in to the human disease.

The problem is the breeding is subsidized and the circumstances encourage the most useless to breed early and often, in deplorable conditions, and doom those generations to the same damned cycle.

The govt tit and the “Great Society” is the worst thing to happen to the black community and those that interact with them.
