Yea that why last winter the GFS had me getting 10 inches the day of and the Euro was at like 1 inch tops. I ended up with a half inch. The GFS just plain sucks.

Im not expecting a lot south of i20, in terms of impacts.
the reality is now one knows what will happen south of i-20 east of the mississippi until around friday, so its all very speculative at this point and will change many more times in the next couple of days

Disagree, Duke knows his shite

Im going to need you to change that to everyone below 3 miles north of I20 will get nothing but rain.

i am not debating that at all, but lots of variables at play with this system which all effect whichever mathematical model they are running, hence why you see the all the changes and divergence amongst the different models

If they can just keep the power on. It shouldn’t be that hard in 2026 to slough off an inch of ice.
Even snow country gets fricked by ice, baw.

No shite. An inch of ice from freezing rain would be catastrophic, regardless of what part of the country it happens in.

Ice and snow is back for BR according to latest GFS!!!
Posted on 1/21/26 at 4:24 pm to TDsngumbo
Latest GFS extends this into Monday

Look, Im just giving an opinion on what Im seeing. I agree its quite complex, and people south of 20 could see big impacts. Shits hard.
But I do think the Euro's northern trend over the last 24 hours makes sense.

Ice yes, snow no.

Our local guru keeps referencing a recon flight over the pacific which will clarify a lot of forecasting?? Just repeating it.
Posted on 1/21/26 at 4:28 pm to tigerfoot
Well my personal local guru is saying some limited recon info is already included in the model output this afternoon/evening.
Do you have a personal local guru or just a general local guru?

Can’t we just split the difference and get sleet? It’s not fun like snow but it doesn’t really hurt much of anything.

I've witnessed a hell of a sleet storm before where it was pouring down sleet. That shite was fun as hell to witness, plus the ground turns white just like with snow. I'd take a massive sleet storm.

heavily discount the GFS right now. It has a bad handle on this and is out on its own. It keeps missing the phase.
GFS and Canadian are in close agreement. Euro is furthest north with no frozen precip south of I-20
All the other models fall in between the GFS and Euro. South Louisiana likely has nothing to worry about. Central La and north will see ice, same for Ms. If you’re north of I-20 prepare for worst, south of I-20 be prepared but not likely to see anything extreme.

I agree, but I hope you're wrong just so I can watch the OT skulldrag your arse over being wrong in a weather thread

What about along the I-20 corridor? Dallas-->Shreveport--> Monroe?
Latest Euro which is the most northern solution at this time
I-20 corridor should be prepared for significant icing
