As many of you know, our facilities manager, Mr Gene Baker's daughter, Jasmine, left home between 5pm-7pm yesterday evening. Police were called and many have been out on foot and in cars looking for her. As daylight comes, please keep a special lookout for her in the downtown, North Baton Rouge, and Spanish Town area. Also, please take a moment and say a prayer that she is found quickly and please pray for the family who is having an extremely difficult time in this moment of crisis.

Please be on the lookout more so than you normally are to help locate this little girl and ensure her safe return home.

As the father of a young daughter, I cannot imagine the hell these parents are going thru.
This has to be my greatest fear as a parent.

This would be one of those times when you actually hope your child has run away instead of something else.

Just came down North St. and turned north onto River Road. Noticed a couple of cops walking the tracks looking out into the wooded area between the tracks and the river. Now I know what they were looking for. I hope she's found safe and sound. :(

I, along with many others that post here, are right there with you.
And while we all like to give each other a hard time, joke, make insults and the like, this web site and specifically this forum, we look out for one another and our city in a time of need.
I am hopeful by posting this information here that someone who knows someone who knows someone can help lead to her safe return.

Why has no Amber Alert been issued? Is there a period of time that has to expire first? Seems ridiculous!

WBRZ just sent out an alert. Though not amber.
Just says police looking.

The Facebook page said they're going to a judge this morning to have one issued. I don't know if there is a waiting period or if it depends on circumstances. It seems like hell on earth for the parents to have to wait that long.

AMBER Alert - Guidelines
LINK
quote:
The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death. There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child. The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
In my mind, a 12 year old child not returning home willingly or against their will, would constitute imminent danger.

I know these folks. Apparently she got mad about homework and ran away. Terrible part of town for a 12 year old girl to run away from home. I have been praying profusely
Oh man. It's just homework. But I get it. To a 12 year old, it's an entirely different outlook on life at that time in their life.
Hopefully she will be located very soon.

Found safe.
Now she gets grounded when parents relief ends and parental anger sets in.
