You did it. You're making me defend Ryan. Boot him and then what's your plan?

Posted this in the game thread, but it deserves its own discussion.

Ok let's fire Ryan. What's your next plan? Promote Allen? Ok great, good plan. Oh wait....he has to deal with all of the below as well? Oh man..we may not really fix our issues overnight by firing Ryan like we thought.

We have the following rookies/2nd year and/or guys we signed off the street all playing today:
Anthony
Kikaha
Davison
Richardson
Mauti
Gwhachum (SP?)
Dixon
Breaux (basically a rookie)
Samford
Edibali
Dunbar
Barnes
Wilson

Plus other injuries we've had to deal with all year:
Lewis
Byrd
Ellerbee
Kikaha missed a game
Swann
Hawthorne

Our on paper starting lineup has yet to play a single game together. Should a defense ever be this bad? No. But if you're gonna pin this all on Ryan, I hope you realize booting him isn't going to fix any of this right now.

I've heard that Payton is very involved in the defense this year. He might be making things much worse.

Plenty coaches are fired mid-season. Fire him, name an interim coach and make a hire in the off-season. What's the big deal?

Dude are you not watching this season. Look at panther no namers. Look at the no namers on defense around the leaugue. There playing good. Name more than four defensive players on the pats defense that are over 28. This team is hot garbage. My one legged friend could beat this team. They have gave up

No one with any football sense thinks firing Ryan is the majic bullet.

That said, there comes a point in any negative situation where a new perspective is needed.

I wasn't confident in the preseason that we'd made in any progress on D and nothing I've seen in the regular season gives me cause for optimism going forward.

If we didn't have injuries Ryan might have them up to 30th in the league.

Rob Ryan has had like 2 good years in his life where his defenses were any good.

He's getting by on his last name.

The plan is that I don't have to look at his dreadful face and hair every Sunday.

That's good enough for me.

Go back to Ryan's Dallas days. Jerry Jones would sell his soul to have it all. If Ryan was that good of a coordinator then his fat arse would still be in Dallas.

I had a friend that's a Cowboys fan tell me "you're gonna love him the first year and hate him after that."

That gal knows her football.

We could play this poorly without a coach.

Panthers D is loaded with talent. They have a lot invested in their front 7 and have a top 5 CB.

I could coach this team to giving up 40 a game. Not that difficult

Ryan is terrible, but Loomis is the reason this team is where it's at. His terrible moves over the last few years would make it impossible for almost any DC to succeed.

Yes Brett, fire Ryan. No matter who is in there, injuries or not, this d gets pushed around and in Saints fashion gives up the big play. I wish we could combine those big hitting d's of the late 90's early 2000's with a little dicipline that I have not seen. I would hate to think that bounty gate emasculated this d, but this is horseshite. Ryan's d has no spine for such a 'crazy tough guy'. Get a young guy in there who is not sperm from the 85 bears and is hungry to make this inept d hungry. As to who? Could be anyone

Does it matter, do you think we can make a run or something? Why wait for the inevitable, there's absolutely no reason to.
