That's some weak reasoning. The Saints schedule wasn't any better than the Vikings. Homefield advantage is what this game will come down to. I'd be worried if we were going up there.

It's not really reasoning. It's an explanation of how the Vikings amassed their raw #s and how the system downrates those #s with opponent adjustments...

then they need to do the same adjustments with the saints, they had a weaker schedule, i'm sure both teams numbers look less impressive if you take out the lions, bucs, rams, etc.

you know for a fact our schedule was weaker? seems like they probably crunched more #s and did more leg work than you.

Yes, there was a thread yesterday posting winning percentage of opponents and the Saints were dead last and Vikings were 2nd to dead last.

they aren't looking at W/L for schedule strength. Rather, they are looking at the accumulation of yards against a good pass defense (for example) or stuffing the running attack of a poor run defense...

You could just go ahead and read his methodology...

Didn't realize that, you said to skip down to the end, but if true, great

It's not really a methodology. It's more of a generalized outlook.

This guys response to the Jets chances is awesome.

I keep picturing Gandalf (the NYC sportswriters) leaning down to Pippin (Jets fans) and saying, "There was never much hope--or only a fool's hope" while Frodo (Sanchez) and Sam (Rex Ryan)* struggle toward Mordor (Miami) and the Witch-King (Manning) and Pig Orc (Dallas Clark) descend on Minas Tirith (the AFC Championship game).

It gets confused after that. I think I've made Darelle Revis Eowyn. Would they just play the darn game already!

So this is like "gettingold"s power rankings except it includes both defensive and offensive statistics and not special teams

That is a terrible argument. It'll come down to positional match-ups and The Department of Domeland Security.
