Would you take Star Lotulelei if he is there at 15?

Yes, he has a heart condition, but so does Arian Foster.

Would you take him to play the Zero technique in our defense if he fell that far?

He's a beast on the field and was projected to go Top 5.

When a player has a defined medical issue it becomes a question of the risk vs. talent

If Lotulelei or Jarvis Jones made to #15 I wouldn't bet on the Saints taking them either. It would can be that factor only that would drop them that far. Sometimes it be that extreme or worse.

One of the best recent examples was Daquan Bowers DE Bucs. He was a Top 5 lock or even #1 contender that fell to #51.

our own Greg Romeus was in conversation for Top 10 at one time. Multiple serious dings ended up knocking him to the 7th Rd

So maybe you or I or even coaches would say yeah, take him. The medical staff can hand out a red flag that can trump that however.

DE: Akiem Hicks
DT: Star Lotulelei
DE: Cameron Jordan

Brb, fapping.

If Lotulelei checked out physically that would be one bad-assed defensive line. At least on paper if not for real.

Maybe for Star, because this is something new right? So you really have to look in to this development.

The Jones thing still confuses me. The guy just put together 2 amazing years, but now this injury is a problem? We've seen him on the field. If his neck is as bad as people are saying now, what does that say about Georgia for letting him continue to play? I just don't get it.

Bowers and Romeus were trouble because their knee's were shot. Jones has been smashing into people, and he seems fine. I get what you're saying though. I think I would take the chance, especially with modern medicine and technology. Peyton Manning and Peterson are proof of what can be done by doctors these days.

It was never going to be a problem while he played in college. The question is, is he going to have to retire after a few years in the league because of this condition? How long could you get him before then? Is a hit to the wrong spot going to cripple him more easily than it would a player without the condition? It potentially presents short and long term problems

Yeah, Georgia only had athletic fund money into him. Colleges really have little concern about players future. They push players even more than the NFL IMO cuz they do not have millions of bucks invested in them. When a Lattimore is injured it doesn't affect their cap. They just toss them and move on with another of their gazillion recruits.

Here's another example... Jammal Brown. He was a #13. He was the first OT taken on '05. It was health and durability concerns that caused him to be that low. ( LINK). He was good but those injury concerns proved to be true. Five years later he is traded for a conditional 3rd Rd pick. Since with the skins he has consistently been hobbled even when playing and was completely out last year.

Saints did good with that one. Used him up, and got something on the deal in the end.

peeps complained that it wasn't enough but the end result of his production proved it to be a good deal.

Certainly think a Jarvis Jones or Lotulelei would overwhelm similar concerns at #15. So much so I'd count their probability at less than 10% at 15. But maybe it is the year to hit on one like that. Heaven knows we deserve it after Fatass Ellis, Jenkins, & PRob in the 1st Rd.
